It is insane to think that we had Hogan and Warrior - two guys that couldn't work to save their lives - to, only a couple years later, probably the 2 best workers of all time in Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels replacing them. It was like going from 0-60 in less than 1 second. Wild.

The main reason Warrior failed so miserably in the early 90s, despite strong start, was the fact that he was pushed too much too fast. He simply wasn't ready for the spotlights as, despite his incredible gimmick and persona, all of his numerous flaws in the ring were becoming more and more apparent.
@YT-TrentonАй бұрын
Not really. He got greedy. Shortly after Wrestlemania-6, Warrior demanded the same pay as Hogan. When Vince said no, Warrior refused to wrestle in their next PPV (match made in hell). Warrior did end up wrestling in the PPV, but after that, the Warrior started doing no-shows at events. Point is, Warrior caused his demise in the WWF. He could have had a longer run, but he got greedy and selfish.

The Rock surpassed Austin by 1999 though. It’s so easy in hindsight to say Austin was the bigger star bc he was always in the main events and was protected better. But Rock actually outsold Austin in merchandise that year and his segments generally got more views. Austin was the biggest star first by 97 and 98 but Rock surpassed him between 99 to 02
@deemz3124 ай бұрын
@@Victor-cr3xi The Rock never reached SCSA levels. If you think because one year he got a bigger push that means he surpassed him, you are nuts.
@Victor-cr3xi4 ай бұрын
@@deemz312 nope it’s true, Rock was already rivaling Austin in popularity in late 98 which is likely why they switched him heel. But bc he was so entertaining they had to turn him back face. When 1999 came to a close, Rock was their biggest merch mover specifically with his sunglasses. Not Austin. Austin was number 2. Even when you check the ratings that year in 99, Rock beat Austin most weeks. Of course their were also times Austin beat Rock. They even tied several times. But most weeks, The Rock got the most views during his segments.
