Thanks Chad!!! I learned a lot to what I have to pay more attention to! But it‘s easier to make them yourself than to get upset about a bad decal 😄 thank you for supporting the channel!!!

Danke Dir!!!

Thanks so much for what you are doing! I have the Tamiya DO335A Pfeil model (which is somewhat different from your kit, but not that much differnt) and I will be using your videos to construct my model. I look forward to learning your techniques!

You can thinly apply paint for the markings when they were either weathered or thinly applied originally.

In my next episode on the Bf 109 I made again masks on my own and painted them on the aircraft. This time better results and much better tools!

Looks amazing so far! Great job with the masks especially since they were cut by hand. I really like the contrast between the greens, the light green I feel is a little lighter than it would have been on the real aircraft at the time(at least it looks that way in the video), but having said that I do prefer it like it is, I think the "normal" colours look too much alike, certainly the early war camo colours RLM70/71. Please continue with these great video's and builds, looking forward to the next one.

Yes Barry, just saw a picture of the real aircraft in a museum and the lighter green is to saturated on my model, like you noticed correctly. But I think it makes it a little bit more interesting on a scalemodel, to have a little bit of contrast... The RLM 70/71 combination is much more on the duller side, but combined with a winter camo it could be very interesting! Always happy to share my WIP as videos... Thank you for tuning in and your support!!!

Markus, nice to read a comment from you!!! Became father and this little 1:1 model takes a lot of time :) I really love these splinter camos, especially on the Ju-87... I already got the model :) Good luck with your Ju-88 and have a great weekend!

Great stuff as always, if you enjoy using masks have a look at the silhouette range of cutters, I brought the portrait 2 as it's smaller and cheaper than the cameo 4 but does the same things.

Hey Travis, following your advice about cutters, I bought the cameo 4 (the bigger size is handy for other projects) and I'm really looking forward to make my own masks! Thanks again for your advice!!!

@@AirandGroundinScale you won't be disappointed, although my wife's made more use of mine making custom t-shirts and travel coffee mugs for gifts than I have so far for modelling🤣

It wasn‘t very difficult to suggest buying the cutter to my wife. But rather more expensive, we had to get the cameo 4 instead of the portrait ;)

Leon, the project is coming along great! Looking really good and I can't wait to check out the weathering (this time I will remember to wear clothes I don't mind getting dirty while watching). Indeed, 500 subs is just around the corner and I'm happy to be supporting your channel! I have a few questions: Do you know if the Gauzy is acrylic based? How long do you allow the clear to cure before you move to panel line washing?
@AirandGroundinScale
@AirandGroundinScale 3 жыл бұрын
Matt, this time I'll just start with the weathering and look how much I'll apply :) So nice to have such interested Subscribers like You!!! The gauzy is acrylic based in my opinion: Doesn't smell very bad, and it cleans with water = acrylic / smells toxic = lacquer, enamels, etc. :D The Gauzy dried almost instantly, I think you could almost start right away, but I let it cure for several hours - at best, over night - before I'll start with the wash for my peace of mind... Thank you very much for your comment and your support!!!

Thanks for sharing, I am curious why you polish with stick after ak gauzy? And gauzy you use it directly from bottle?
@AirandGroundinScale
@AirandGroundinScale 3 жыл бұрын
The first layer of gauzy wasn't very glossy, so I tried to even it out a little bit with the polisher. The second layer was already better. Next time I'll try some other method... Yes, I used the gauzy without thinning, directly from the bottle. Thank you for tuning in Giorgos!!!

Hi Leon, short question, is the ak gauzy your absolut first choice for a gloss finish? I struggle alot with geting silvered decals. I relly think that your step with the polishing and another coat is crucial. Will try this on my next build. Do you polish with the stick dry? Would be wet even better? Thanks for your help
@AirandGroundinScale
@AirandGroundinScale 3 жыл бұрын
The Ak Gauzy worked best for a gloss finish. I have often the same Problem with decals. Your right, I could have polished it with a wet polishing stick for a better result, thank you for the advice!

Hey Marc! Thx for the comment. Sometimes the colors behave differently, depending on how much you thin them down or what brand they are. I recommend trying first on a surface on the model, which isn't very much exposed...
