@@Bearical that's not necessarily true. Artists are very different from to the other in all fields. Some are very good at letting go and being content with what they've created. Some are very happy with some of their works. For example, you have Harrison Ford who was NEVER that big of a Star Wars fan - but you had Mark Hammill who was and is as big of a fan as the rest of us. Ford just saw Han Solo as work. Another role. Mark always exudes tremendous pride and love for Luke, his role he played, and the movies they were. Williams really does strike me as proud of what he accomplished and doesn't feel the need to change anything but rather play it like it was/is.

I know it's like this for alot of people but I just wanna share why John Williams' music means so much to me. I saw my first star wars movie at 8 years old. I watched all the movies in the span of about a week at that time (in order, mind you). I played all the video games. The original battlefront games, lego star wars, force unleashed, and I'm still playing Battlefront II despite its many flaws. This music is quite literally the soundtrack of my life. These songs and scores have been with me from a very young age. When I hear them, I know I am hearing a piece of timeless music that means so much to so so many people. I am so glad that Star Wars is a part of my life and I am so thankful to my Dad for introducing me to Star Wars and answering all my Star Wars questions when we were watching all the movies together. I'll always be thankful to my Dad for that. These songs still reach the 8 year old kid inside me today and bring back so many good memories. I would always watch the movies (usually the Original Trilogy) on the portable dvd player we had in our car when we took long trips. I remember when my grandmother gifted me the box set of the original trilogy. It was the best gift I ever received to this day it sits on my shelf in my bedroom 12 years later. This music captures a part of me that will never change. My love for this franchise, through thick and thin, is unedning, and this music really is and always will be the soundtrack of my life.

Thomas Daniel I literarily agree with everything you just said. Carrie, Mark, and Harrison have touched my life everyday. when I found out about Carries passing, I cried. My screen on my phone goes between those three. I write how many days Carrie has been gone on my calendar. I watch Carries “Wishful Drinking,” everyday when I have extra time. There had not been one night in a long time where I have not fallen asleep to this soundtrack. R.I.P Carrie Fisher ❤️

The impact that this man has had and still has on our lives is immense, it's huge, you can play a piece to someone who doesn't know his name but they will know where they were when they first saw the movie, he is so iconic! This guy is so iconic in so many peoples childhoods growing up, he's up there with Attenborough, a true master of his craft who does it out of love and passion and the want to give and express and make you feel, the guy is a true Jedi master with his baton! He has been the soundtrack of my youth from star wars, superman, jaws, E.T, close encounters, indiana jones, to Jurassic park Schindler's list, harry potter, I can't say enough good things about the man, he is truly a legend and I for one thank him for blessing me with his talent! I tip my cap to you sir John williams yòu truly are a legend and a blessing

I saw him live at the Hollywood Bowl where all I could afford were the nosebleed seats, and noticed that, too. As soon as his hands went up, everyone shut up instantly. He even lowered his hands and brought them up again just to play with that power. We loved it so much. It was like the ultimate respect for the Master. However, as soon as that first orchestra hit for "Luke's Theme" struck the air, the crowd erupted in cheers. Same with the Imperial March. It's an automatic response ingrained into the souls of all of us fans --whether we identify personally with the Light Side or the Dark Side, we love it all.

I had the great fortune to be in that room on that day, and after all these years, I STILL never tire of watching this video... What I am about to type here will seem a little "redundant", but please "humor me", and allow me to describe this first-hand experience anyway for those who may not be aware of the FULL circumstances or context of this historic SW moment... My brother and I had one of the most joyous surprises of our lives when we went to Star Wars Celebration in Orlando, Florida in April of 2017.. Let me set the scene.. After camping out OVERNIGHT, my brother and I were TWO of the lucky 3000 people to be able to get into the "Star Wars 40th Anniversary" panel, which was the following morning... We literally had to get online for this panel a good 18 HOURS before it EVEN STARTED just to insure that we would get in, as there was only a 3000 person capacity! Well, the panel was EPIC, and just when I thought that it couldn't get ANY better, what with getting to see George Lucas, Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Billy Dee Williams, and all of the other celebrities that were in attendance... Well, at the end of the panel, there was a very touching tribute to Carrie Fisher, who had sadly passed away about 4 months prior to this convention, led by George Lucas and Fisher's daughter, Billie Lourd... AND THEN... WELL... THEN IT HAPPENED... At the VERY END of the tribute, as you see in this video, the backstage curtains parted, and onstage, behind the curtains... THERE WAS JOHN WILLIAMS, accompanied by the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra! Well, let me tell you, the audience simply went ABSOLUTELY BALLISTIC at this UNBELIEVABLE surprise, screaming, clapping and cheering like utter MANIACS... We simply COULDN'T believe our eyes... NO ONE had a CLUE that he would be there!... The Maestro turned to us with a BIG smile, and without saying a SINGLE word, simply raised his finger to his lips, mimicking a polite "Shhh"... And you'd be amazed how INSTANTANEOUSLY SILENT that room got... and there were 3000 of us packed in there! As for me, I was literally TREMBLING at what I just KNEW was about to happen... Williams raised his baton, and suddenly the Orlando Philharmonic was playing Princess Leia's Theme... Believe me when I say that there wasn't a DRY EYE in the house, including those of my brother and myself (you could HEAR the joyous sobbing emanating throughout the room!). After a thunderous standing ovation, he then launched into the Star Wars Main Title... and we all went INSANE again! George Lucas then came back onto the stage and introduced John Williams as "The secret sauce of Star Wars" and "The greatest composer in the Universe", and Williams wrapped up the "surprise mini-concert" with the Imperial March from The Empire Strikes Back... As 1st generation STAR WARS mega-fans, who have been ones ever since we first saw the original film in 1977 when we were kids (I was just 10-years-old, and my brother was 7-years-old), this ENTIRE convention, and in particular this 40th Anniversary panel, was a VERY SPECIAL moment in time for us that we got to share TOGETHER, and we will ALWAYS cherish it and NEVER forget it... For those of you who haven't seen it, here is a link to the FULL 40th Anniversary panel that preceded this surprise John Williams tribute kzbin.info/www/bejne/moXUnp6hrJdlrNU&pp=ygUaNDB0aCBhbm5pdmVyc2FyeSBzdGFyIHdhcnM%3D

This takes me right back to Friday night, a 4 hour wait even after one full week had passed since opening night in 1977. Twin North / Twin South Hicksville, Long Island New York. Two of only a handful of 70mm screens on the entire island. 12 rows back from the front of the theater and the Star Destroyer hits the screen; we were all in awe!!! I so wish today's generation had a chance to see this movie the way all of these movies were intended to be seen. Thank you George Lucas, John Williams, and the entire cast and crew that made this possible.

This just goes to show John Williams completely understands not only his art, but the characters and themes his art portrays as well. 12:11 is a perfect example. The high pitched strings are a call to Leia's sensitive and caring nature, with the horns reminding you of her much bolder side, her willingness to stand and fight for what she believes in, even against an entire empire. The scale of the song gives a sense of mystery, like that of a distant galaxy, showing that Leia is not afraid to venture into the unknown if it means going after what is significant to her. TL;DR John Williams wrote a song that perfectly sums up our princess. But you guys knew that already.

I was in my early 20s when the first "Star Wars" movie was released and went to see it cold, having no idea what to expect. When the scroll came up, backed John Williams' epic score , I was blown away. It just got more amazing from there, in large part because of the spectacular score behind the story, perhjaps the greatest symphonic score in movie history. I remember when the movie came to an end, not one member of the audience got up and left while the credits were playing because they all wanted to hear this wonderful music one last time. And when the last note played and the lights came up, to my utter amazement, the audience broke into a spontaneous roaring applause. That is the first time I had ever seen that (and not sure I have seen it since). Keep in mind there were no Star Wars fans then because this was the first movie and had only been out a few days. Almost no one had even heard of it. So the applause was a real tribute to what we all now regard as Hollywood legends. But Lucas and Williams were both largely unknowns at the time.
