Hi! My name is Letícia, I'm from Brazil and I was looking for classic book videos and found your channel. I've been watching the videos for the last 2 hours and I'm really enjoying, so thank you very much. I really really love books and I get very excited when I found someone who has similar taste as mine for books :) You cat is adorable!! I also have two cats: Ramona and Luna :) Anyway! I love Christmas time, so that's why I'm watching the vlogs from December. Wish you the best and I will be here often! :)

Caitie C You’re very sweet 🙂 I actually haven’t even started my January Reading Vlog yet because I still haven’t finished a single book (I’m reading huge books at the moment 😬) - but I will get to it 🙂

Thank you for sharing your reading experiences, Helene. I noticed you take such good care of your books that even books you've read look new. I'm also reading several books at once including one from the library: "The Written World--The Power of Stories to Shape People, History, Civilization" by Martin Puchner. I'm looking forward to hearing about your 2018 reading!

Andrew Brendan You’re welcome, Andrew! And yes, I tend to not (always) break the spine just because I can’t make myself do so 😂 Some of my books do look rather worn, though...

I LOVE how much you love Steinbeck. EEEEEEKKKK! You have Lonesome Dove? Oh, Helene, it is the most incredible of books. I feel about it as I feel about Steinbeck, honestly. These books have broken my heart in the best of ways. So much humanity in those pages! I can't wait to hear your thoughts on it! Also, there is a tv adaptation that is phenomenal, as well.

nikki venable Yeah! I’m currently reading “Lonesome Dove” and LOVING it, and I just heard about the mini series which I will have to check out afterwards ❤️ I’m so excited about this 😬

I do the same thing with most books by George Elliott, struggle a little bit in the first half then fall in love and rip through the second half!

Though Larry McMurtry's books tend to be a bit to depressing for me most of the time, quite a few of his books are my favorite. Lonesome Dove is probably his best. Terms of Endearment and Evening Star (the sequel to Terms of Endearment.)are both beautifully written. Last Picture Show and Texasville are also worth reading. (There was a 3rd book, Duane's Depressed, but it was way to depressing for me.) The majority of those books were also made into movies, with the exception of Lonesome Dove which was made into a mini series, and while the books are better then the movie, I found them all to be worth watching. I have no idea how you would get a hold of any of the movies, though sorry.
@helenejeppesen21337 жыл бұрын
Lynxie Dove Thanks! I have heard that he’s quite a prolific writer although “Lonesome Dove” is going to be my first book of his. I might have to check out that mini series afterwards 🧐

Your videos are so peaceful, and I feel so inspired to read after watching. I’m loving East of Eden, thanks again for the recommendation. Have you read Anne Patchett’s Bel Canto? It’s a great one. Hope to see you make many more videos.
@helenejeppesen21337 жыл бұрын
Misty O'Donnell “Bel Canto” has actually been on my radar for the past year, but the synopsis puts me off from reading it. I’m not sure I want to read about terrorists 🤨 Anyway, I’m thrilled to hear you enjoy my vlogs 🙂

Glad you found some enjoyment in /Extremely Loud.../. It was a favorite of mine in high school but I think to some extent it's necessarily timely, not sure I'd enjoy it as much today. Zeus is such a majestic creature, lovely pattern, floof all over the place! :3 Glad he's proven to be such a reliable reading companion
