What a lot of flooding! Is that the cause of the delay? If I lived in those new houses I think I’d be seriously worried.

I'n not sure, but given the weather this year, I think they have done well to get this far. As for the houses, it's not just the flooding, many of the owners of the houses on the new route didn't know their quiet little side road was going to be the main road through Ash.

They should have a word with the conveyancing solicitors who should have found that in the legal searches. Someone said it has been planned for many years and before the houses were built. I do feel for the house with the huge sign out the front of it.

@@aviewthroughthelens I sort of agree. I knew the rough route of the new bridge long ago. Before planning was granted on the houses. But, from what I can understand, from consumer programs on Radio 4. Buyers of new builds are bullied into using the builder's own solicitor. There is no way on this planet I would do that, but clearly many do.

It’s more than likely a flood plain and that’s why houses haven’t been built there before... these days planners don’t seem to worry about little details like that!

@@lfo2vco I was bought up very close to this site. The land just north of the rail line often flooded, hence the new culverts, to take the stream that is there. North of the stream the land rises, so the new houses should be fine. But there is a traveller site, that is in the flood plain, clearly viable in the video. I believe they will be building on the south side when the bridge is done?. They didn't flood, but would be a muddy quagmire in winter and about where the new roundabout is there was a pond that was full even in a hot summer, this was filled in about 30 years ago. So I suspect the water table is just below the topsoil? I wouldn't want a house there.

Looks narrow to me, huge pavement, but road looks narrow. 🤔

The pavement will also have a cycle path, hence the width.

Same as the new Wisley bridge on the A3, probably due to use by cyclists and pedestrians
