December Planting Guide & Garden Planning for 2023

It's amazing that we can garden all year long here in Southern California, but the limited sunlight definitely means it's slow going. Let's look at what you can be growing this month.
While you can be PLANTING this time of year, I really want to encourage you to be PLANNING too. Spring will be here in no time, and preparing now will translate to success later.
If you're in zone 9 or 10, the thing I can't recommend highly enough is using a calendar.

Your calendar would be extremely helpful since I always seem to be behind on planting due to not knowing when to plant what. I really love gardening but sometimes it can be a little overwhelming trying to get the timing right.

Her calendar is absolutely amazing and includes so much information to help us new gardeners and even people that have been gardening for decades! Every single month has tips and tricks about the things you should be doing for that month, a QR code to scan that takes you to a video, and then even a code for that month to get a discount on seeds that you buy from them!!! Also where she was showing at the bottom of the page what things you’re supposed to start and includes a mark next to it indicating that is something you can succession plant 🪴 so that way you’re not starting all of the same kind of plants at the same time then having to harvest them all at the same time, succession planting makes it to where you have that specific vegetable harvested at different times. Don’t forget that there’s a lot of stuff you can direct seed in the soil outside and not have to start it inside and actually some veggies do better if you direct sow them in their permanent home.
