Grat video. Texas Gulf Coast temps change daily too. I ust started surf fishing last summer after bass fishing for 60yrs. I wish i had discovered this form of fishing sooner. I love it. I make my own leaders and salt shrimp for bait along with Fishbites. I use lady fish for shark bait. I subscribed and will watch often😊

I'm the same way with blueish. Bleeding them is a must. Cut away all the bloodline. Taste great if you eat them the day you catch them. I've also had them chopped up in chunks and mixed in with some shrimp chunks in a badder with some chopped green onions to make some fritters.. taste amazing dipped in some malt vinegar.

Your welcome! Most people just look at the waves, but on calm days you have to look at the beach itself to see where the underwater structure is. Glad that helped and thanks so much for watching!

Last weekend was a great time to be offshore in the atlantic... Lots of mahi around.. All gaffers. Also seeing the mullet come by my dock with the tarpon and snook blowing them up (sarasota county) Gonna be a fun week taking out the kayak dragging a mullet lure.
@Fishin-Girl16 күн бұрын
I bet that was! I haven’t had the opportunity to go offshore much, but have some ladies in our group who want to take me out on their boats. I can’t wait! My only offshore charter was supposed to be for Mahi and the waves were so bad it ended up being a shark charter. Still fun but I want to catch some of those offshore fish. I can catch sharks and stingrays from shore if I want to, lol. Thank you so much for watching!

The day I recorded this video I had an underwater camera out and saw a small school of very large mullet go past. Would have been good eating size!

@Fishin-Girl I go out from jupiter inlet... I'm not a fan of being on a boat for 3 hours before I'm able to fish like here on the gulf side. Once out of the inlet I start to troll. Had a large wahoo on the line but it got off, 2 bonitos, and 2 dolphin brought in... The best time to go is when it's ugly out. 3-5 seas with 7 ft swells. Makes for a bumpy ride but worth it to bring home some fish.

Monthly videos, BRILLIANT! Thank you. Bluefish, YUMMY! I eat them grilled, I eat them breaded and fried. For those that don't like them, give them another try. Bleed the fish immediately then ice em. Contrary to those I speak to, I have excellent success freezing the fillets for later use. I eat them fresh when I can. Interesting fact, bluefish was considered top table fare back in the late 1800's, Jack Daniel loved them. Yeah, that Jack Daniel. I only surf fish up here in JAX. I want your opinion on fishbites. I have had success with them on the beach. The bait shop is just too far so I don't go for shrimp. Nothing beats sand fleas IMHO, but the recent sand renourishment up here in Jax has wiped them out. Cut bait works well for me too, and free! If you had to pick 1 flavor of fishbites for the winter, what would it be? Also, does the slow release work well enough during the winter here? 1 more thought, I think is beneficial. Line weight vs lead. Most fisher men and women I encounter don't know the correlation of 10lbs of line wt per ounce of lead rule. I have seen some close calls where the guy was throwing or back casting 4 oz on 20# test or less and almost hit someone when the lead broke loose. I haven't seen a rod tip break yet but I'm sure it happens.

@@Floridamarty hey there, Marty, thanks so much for watching and for all those interesting facts about bluefish! I didn’t know that about Jack Daniels I would say for Fishbites flavor (I actually prefer the new Fishgum, pomp candy flavor) I would have to pick sand flea. Hard to only have one choice because certain flavors work better for certain beaches 🤷🏻♀️ And yeah beach renourishment can really mess up sand flea populations. They were hard to find for about 8 months after the renourishment in Flagler. They are trickier to find now after they put new sand down from the pier to the water tower down here, but I found small colonies by looking for an area that looked different than the rest of the sand. If that makes any sense. They might also be deeper down in the water or in the sand.

I’ll be fishing the Ormond beach area from the 15th-20th if you are familiar with the area could you give me some ideas as to what I should expect? Thanks in advance. This video was really helpful!
@Fishin-Girl8 күн бұрын
@@fishing9733 hey hope you have a great time here! Ormond is a low-impact beach so the best time to fish will be a few hours before low tide through to a few hours after low tide. Basically all the fish I talked about in this video is what you can expect. The bluefish are thick right now so make sure you have heftier rigs like mortician rigs or double-drop using at least 40 lb line. Hope that helps and you have a great fishing time!

Does these things apply in North West Florida (Navarre thru Pensacola) area? New to the area and find it's been failure Everytime. Ready to go back to Louisiana to fish.
@Fishin-Girl17 күн бұрын
@@legauxmc they can. You just won’t need as much sinker weight normally over there. Maybe 3 oz when it’s wavy there. Pay attention to the water temperature, but you guys have a lot of the same fish we do and their feeding habits and water temps you find them at should be similar. For your area, also check out Fishgum’s channel, he has a lot of great information for right where you’re at. But thanks for watching!

I can't join but my question is; on really cold mornings is it better to go beach fishing midday instead?
@Fishin-Girl18 күн бұрын
Hey there! I am a bit of a baby when it comes to the cold so I will plan trips when it's warmer, but I've also fished in the cold and no matter the air temperature, it's really the water temperature, tide, and other elements that determine whether the fishing will be good or not. Like today, the water temperature is 73 degrees in Flagler Beach even though the air temp was in the 30s-40s at sunrise. So colder air eventually will cool down the water, but it takes a while. The cold might affect if sand fleas are present or if they dig down deeper in the water or sand to regulate their body temperature. I always find sunrise has a good bite on the surf, but if it's too cold for you, just plan it when it's a bit warmer and determine the beach you will fish based on the tide situation. Hope that helps a bit!
