I know Bradford on Avon and it is a really small town. I can’t believe the couple took up so much of Phil and Kirsty’s valuable time searching for a needle in a haystack and being ultra fussy in the process. Wanting only half the town as their search area was just crazy and didn’t muster any sympathy, in fact, I would have left them to sort it out themselves after rejecting the second property,Phil !

I don't know if it's me being naive but when Kirstie and Phil say things like "you might have to act fast or lose out on what you want", it really doesn't sound like a high pressure tactic (to me) it could in someone else's way of talking. I know it's meant to push them to make a decision but it's almost as if this show really shows the thought processes the fearful buyers go through, which often can be just fears talking. To be fair the buyers DO need to be making a decision. It IS a lot of money. You ARE going to wonder if you made the right decision. But there's something about Kirstie and Phil that comes across as clear and honest and sincere. That is a very valuable asset! That being said, Ronnie & Ghika needs to be drop-kicked. That is TOO picky. I would have wanted to slap him when he said that about compromise but it was clear he was NOT meaning himself. Good for her calling him on it.

Phil and Kirsty always have fun together. But they are also serious when needed. I found a house after 8 years and after visiting 5 other houses. It had to have a garden facing south, near the highway, shops no more then 5 km away, a village school for my son and some barns, And a big attic. The estate agent has really listened to my wishes. The house is from 1870 and has massive stone walls, free standing and enough parking place. I have no wife but live here with my son (11). Regards from near St. Vith, Belgium

That kitchen at 32:40 really does have a problem, and it's not the easily replaceable cabinets. It's the pullman layout, combined with being a passage between the rest of the house and the back yard, and that passage being not-quite-wide-enough for people to sit on both side of a table *and* get past. Which might be ok if no one planned to actually cook and feed people in there two or three times a day. Still might be fixable, if the door can be moved to the middle of the wall where the mirror is now. (Can't tell for sure without a house plan.) Move the door, then shift the counters & appliances to the wall opposite the windows, in an L or U layout, and put the kitchen table over by the windows. Voila! Eat-in kitchen. Too bad Kirstie wasn't there to suggest it.

Even if a house is "under contract", you still contact the agent to let them know you are potentially interested. In the US, you can put in a "backup offer" when an offer has already been accepted. That's how I bought my house. I put in a backup offer significantly over the asking price, and then "magically" the offer that had already been accepted fell through and i got house at my offer price.

Love this show so much. One thing that surprises me, living in the US, is the size (or lack of) in many of the houses…people here are super spoiled and seem to require huge spaces as a right, it seems. I heard Phil describe an 1100 sq ft house as “huge” once , which startled me, as my first started house, a 2-bedroom, was more than that and most two-bed apts are about 1000-1100 sq ft. where I live. The houses my sister sells in TX are seldom under 3500 sq ft. For me, as a single person, the less the better lol…I have a 600 sq ft apt and feel like I could be comfortable with a smaller place. I want less room to accumulate stuff so the obsession with storage on these shows makes me laugh sometimes. I am constantly trying to get rid of stuff. But obviously I am not the average target market for these shows and am sure most people think the opposite. Right now I am debating a move after 8 years as I really want an enclosed patio or little yard for my small dog…but if I can’t that I won’t bother with the expense and hassle of moving. Again thanks for posting.

I’m always surprised to hear folks say that this is their “forever” home. Does no one take a better job in a new area? Have to move because they got transferred? Retired? Face a life change? We bought 6 houses (over 54 years) all due to job changes, the desire to live in a warmer climate, the chance to build our own house, and the decision to retire. Lived in 4 different states and enjoyed each area for different reasons. I don’t think we’re unique, and I don’t feel the inflexible attitude makes the challenge any easier. Then again, that’s what the concept of compromise is all about…

I'm glad both couples found a home in the end. People criticising Ronnie and Kika (sorry if I've got the spelling wrong) should maybe remember that it's because they weren't so picky on the last two or three occasions and thus were not happy, that they wanted to get it right this time. Buying a house is a huge investment; I can't imagine what it must be like spending that much money. And looking back on it from 2023, I personally agree with what she stated at the beginning ie focussing on walking rather than having to get the car out to go anywhere.

What is it about the UK placing the clothes washer in the kitchen. I get it if the property doesn't have a lot of room, but these homes seem large enough to have a separate laundry area. An FYI for everyone buying a home! As an agent back in the day, and as a buyer, I learned you should always do drive-bys at night to watch the prospective neighborhood, and particularly your neighbors. Best case, sit nearby, and watch a movie or something. I would also do the same very late at night a few times, especially on weekend nights to get a feel for the neighborhood. A bad neighborhood would be a deal breaker, and in the worst cases, make your life miserable!😎👍✌🎄🎅

well as an American who has lived in the UK--I think there is a tradition of it--way back when, washers were tiny and you hooked it up to the kitchen tap and they kind of stayed there--why not. On the other side, why are washers/dryers so often in the basement in US homes? I mean, why aren't they close to the bedrooms and bathrooms where you change clothes. These moves happen slowly.

Love looking at all these places. I live in Israel. Answer my question - what is a reception room/area?

@@maxineb9598 No. I'm talking about the two days Phil and Kirsty are with them while filming for the show. It seems like people are expecting every couple to just buy a house in two days and that's just not realistic.

Kirstie has a title! Due to her father's peerage, she is entitled to use the courtesy style The Honourable Kirstie Allsopp. Her father was a former chairman of auction house Christie's and sat in the House of Lords as a hereditary peer from 1993 to 1999.

Yup, couldn't do it with couples like this. I'm good at a lot of things, but I don't have the patience for dealing with couples like this... No point to it, they tell you exactly how impossible it is to deal with them, and I'd believe them.

I don’t know how this couple can even be married to each other or anyone for that matter. Both are so selfish and just dead in their hearts, cannot even imagine how life is with them. Just checking boxes till they die.

Except for the couple where I worried the husband is abusive this is the worst couple I've seen in this series. Their ten years of looking is the universe telling them they deserve nothing.

It’s a personal choice. Their son seemed really young. Probably did not feel comfortable leaving him and figured she can return back to work as he gets older.
