Welcome to Form Fight! In this series we take a look at Pokemon with more than one form, Pokemon with branched evolutions or even counterpart pokemon, have a look at the differences between this Pokemon and try and decide which one is the best!

Love how Shiny Hisuian Decidueye looks like regular Alolan Decidueye. That’s a genius idea. They must’ve gotten inspiration from the Shiny Galarian Legendary Birds. It’s awesome IMO.

At first, I preferred the Alolan version because of its Robin Hood aesthetic, as well as its Ghost typing that compliments its stealth approach to combat. The Hisuian version started to slowly grow on me, because I’m also partial to beings with a nomadic lifestyle. Rather than stealth, it’s more hands-on with its bulkier physique that compliments its Fighting type.

Alolan Decidueye is one of my favorite Pokemon,I love the Hawaiian influences, I love birds, and it just looks so cool. Hisuian Decidueye is still very cool, but it doesn't top the Alolan form for me.

I am more partial to Alolan Decidueye because I love the rouge archer look like Robin Hood or the LOTR Dunedin Rangers. Hisuan looks good and I like it. I also am more partial to the ghost typing.

I prefer Alolan Decidueye just a tad more because.. well, Hisuian Decidueye has a dang hat on. I know the Alolan one has a hood, but it seems way more subltle and worked into the Pokémon. Hisuian form looks like it's actually just wearing a hat it found, and I hate when Pokémon just have clothes. I kinda hated Hisuian Decidueye when Legends Arceus came out because of the hat (and because they made TWO fully evolved Grass/Fighting types despite makeing so comparitively few Pokémon for a new game), but it's honestly so freaking well designed that the decision is very close for me. I am kinda biased towards hoodies, Ghost types, and even Alola since I officially got into Pokémon via the Sun and Moon anime. But mostly it's the human clothing accessory that kills it for me. (ME, personally. Like whatever you want to like, okay?)

I like both. But I love the more Robin "Whoot"😂🦉 design of Alolan Desidueye. I also love playing it in Unite. Spirit Shackle is a bad ass move witch is very bad ass looking but quite under whelming power wise in the main series. (Pokemon Unite does it justice). Especially bc it such awful speed. I like Hisuian Desidueye but I like The Alolan one more design wise. Compedativly I can only se em simi decent at choice scarf user. Will be fun to se what Terra will bring to these mons though 😄

I love alolan Decidueye best, while my reasonings are from opinions on design aspects, there is a solid logic based reason as well. It has more defensive help from having as many immunities and resistances as it does. The main thing going for Hisiuan Decidueye is its signature move, but I expect that'll get nerfed next gen, honestly surprised it wasn't nerfed when transfered to SV. I also just love owls and ghosts types in general so alolan decidueye was always a match made in heaven.

Alolan Decidueye I like it. Used to be my favorite alolan starter but slowly fell off and Incineroar took over. Only a matter of time until I like Primarina even more too. But I can't tell you why I really do like Decidueye's design! Hisuian Decidueye on the other hand though... I didn't think I could have a new least favorite starter when legends Arceus came around but it happened. I really dislike Hisuian Decidueye's design. I don't like it's Ronin inspired hat and color choice. I've tried to like it but I can't. It's signature move is really op and cool but it barely does anything to help it for me.

I prefer Alolan Decidueye, simply because I prefer its design. I haven't played a Pokémon game since Emerald, and I've never given a toss what competitive players think makes a Pokémon stand out from the rest.

No. It ain't part Normal type. Scrappy makes you hit Ghost type with your Normal/Fighting moved

Decidueye = worst starter in Alola .... When did Incineroar leave the chat? (I have the same issues with this starter that Liam has with Greninja, being such a letdown from the pre-evolution) In all seriousness, I much prefer the Alolan form. An archer owl just screams cool to me with his unique ability really saving from abilities like flame body. I always prefer something unique, even if niche to a mediocre ability. Yeah, hitting ghost types is nice with scrappy... if it didn't learn sucker punch or shadow sneak. While the Hisuian Decidueye just looks like an over complicated scarecrow. A key trait of scarecrows is being scary but the over-design counters this integral aspect... I love the Skull Kid as much as the next guy (MM is my favorite game of all time) but this isn't how you make it work. There are also way more awesome grass types to use in Legends Arceus than in the Alolan games, which makes it harder to justify picking it (it's one reason I rarely pick the water starter due to water abundance). My final point against the Hisuian form is the fighting type, not in the type chart but just in it being the most common type added to a starter, it just makes me groan whenever I see it attached and lowers the Pokemon in my opinion. Some Pokemon have overcome this in my eyes, but when ruining the best Alolan starter, it's not this one.
