Synthetic urine does work the only way to fail is to have it out of temperature range

Testers now get past this by letting the urine sit for 5 minutes before testing the temperature. Fake urine loses temp faster than real urine. There’s also another issue, professional labs have dip sticks where they can test for natural bacteria only found in real urine. The problem here is a professional testing company was hired. If you get tested with a 9 panel kit from Amazon fake urine will work, but if it’s by a lab you’re screwed. Drug testing has changed a lot in the last year where a lot of these products are useless.

This is a very very hard job. That said, they don't test for marijuana here in Oregon for a number of jobs. If they did it would be impossible to fill positions. To be in an industry as hard as crab fishing you need some kind of release. It's a hell of a lot better than alcohol and other drugs. It should be the least of anyone's worry.

Yes, pot may be legal in Alaska but it still federally illegal, and mariners are federally licensed. To the Coast Guard marijuana is still a drug. Plus, the tests are unable to differentiate between whether you’ve been smoking in your free time or whether you’ve been doing it on the job. We all know what we get into in this business- I knew from the jump the moment I started working on boats that I could never ever smoke pot again without jeopardizing my career. Whether or not it is fair is inconsequential. We all know the rules, and if someone decides to disregard them, they risk suffering the consequences

Just a tip for anyone. If it has a small cotton piece on the bottom you can spit on it and pee dirty. The cotton tests the first liquid and then the dirty pee is "clean" and up to temp
