Those tiny channel drains have to be one of the worst inventions ever. They shouldn't even be legal to install these days. Or at least clean outs like what you made should be mandatory.

Agreed. No idea why we do 4inch downspouts but install 1inch channel drains…

What kind of adapter did you use to connect the channel drain to the pvc pipe? They are not the same shapes.

The bottom of most channel drains are round and will fit standard size pvc fittings. This case was a 1 1/2inch. Many pool companies sell custom fit adapters to fit the shape if you want a better visual appearance too.

There's a guy on youtube that made his own for a few bucks using a new piece of channel drain and some stainless steel screws.
