Excellent video. Quick question - doesn’t the light need to sit in water to cool it? Also and the most important I guess. I have raised the issue directly with Pentair customer support about the failure. My lights lasted less than 3 years. They have arranged to send me replacement Microbrites. Kudos to them for recognizing there is an issue with the product.

Another tip run your globrites on 13-14v tap on xformer not the 12. After about 20-30 ft that 12v is going to be to low due to drop. Pentair even recommends putting it a higher tap always. They don't tell anyone this but I've had many reps via warranty work tell me this.

Thanks for the detailed video. I ordered a Microbrite and will try to tackle this project this week. Question: Do the Globrites also sit in some kind of a plastic sleeve in which the Microbrite adapter snaps into or do the Globrites simply sit in a "concrete hole/opening? (Sorry if dumb question, but I havent seen yet what it looks like behind the Globrite and just curios what to expect when I get in there...)
@TunerwithKids
@TunerwithKids Жыл бұрын
The Globrites have a proprietary niche mount that twist locks to seal. The MicroBrite use a standard NPT thread into common pool pipe fitting. To use MicroBrite in old Globrite niche, you need their $15 adapter. It has two o-rings that seals the conduit once installed.

Please don't add silicone to your lights. Water will get in there no matter what. Pool lights are water cooled. They rely on water to be around the fixtures. Yes even led lights. This is a good idea but a bad idea in reality. Also cut your old light cord and add the new cord to it and do one pull. Don't make it difficult for tourself

I have 87 globrites I've replaced since 2021. All cracked and water inside. The jandy hydrocool lights DO fit the globrite niche perfectly. They even make a P series to sync with easytouch intellicenter etc. they do work. I've done about 30 now. Much better lights. Globrites are terrible as are the microbrite. Also you can't prolong a light dude. They crack and let water in. There is no prolonging it.

Need the adapter to convert. Do NOT get GloBrite. MicroBrite is way to go but $400/ea is too much. All my GloBrite are now completely dead. I’m just using the single Micro I installed and will just used Amazon rechargeable stick ons whenever I need light.

Haven’t decided yet. When I do, I’m probably going to mount the magnetic plate to the broken GloBrite lens. They are dead so probably drill into it😂. It’s ghetto but the cost/benefit of Pentair lights isn’t there for me. So much better things to spend $800 on.

How have your microbrites faired? I have 2 out of 4 of mine failed. They don't leak, the LED drivers on the light board burn out. I repaired one of mine, but it's a pain to do and finding the sealant they use inside the light is not easy. The other one I think I messed up the power circuitry in the body while I was testing, so that needs replacing.

I assume your bad Globrite lights were originally installed in a Pentair gunite niche. Did the replacement Microbrite, with light adapter, fit snug against the pool wall (like the Globrite did)? A pool guy said your type of Microbrite replacement for the Globrite will stick out from the wall. True? Its hard to tell from your video. Thanks for the video.

Thank you for this important content, in florida there is not any pool maintenance warranty company willing to take on these pool issues. There are companies that will cover surge protection against surges, but they fall short of protecting pool equipment. So the point is someone should create a company solely for insuring against pool equipment defects on a nation wide group insurance company that could collect premiums from millions of pool owners residential and commercial customers wherein pay quarterly or monthly premiums as we do for major appliances inside your home. There are already pool construction companies out there that perform service work for the manufacturers so come on you business savvy people lets get going and create the cash cow company to rake in premiums from millions of people at an affordable price (shared cost) where now the market is for the DIY’ers that cant afford the thousands charged for out of warranty products sold in the market today. (Or make a better product) I myself treasure the idea of free time to travel the world versus working/replacing pool equipment. If anyone knows of this type of company or coverage in Florida let me know. What is it one in four homes in Florida has a pool/dock lights? Can’t find one, our even American home shield can start covering this out of warranty work. They have the infrastructure already in place. Let me read your thoughts on this.

Or just use the jandy series hydrocool lights. They make a p series which is Pentair's color scheme. They fit the globrite niche perfectly fine. And jandys regular white hydrocool fits as well. I have replaced over 100 globrites under warranty. Horrible lights. They crack in same spot along back. Get the jandys. Trust me. Better warranty and light. Will fit perfectly fine. Thanks again for the video. I successfully swapped one of my 3 Glo‘s to a Micro (the one in the spa is now the Micro) last weekend, however, the colors are pretty off. I hit the sync button on the app, etc. and at times the colors match, but say in Romance mode for example, the globrites in the pool will be blue and the microbrite in spa will be magenta…? I thought the colors will be off by a little bit but that‘s pretty drastic. Is there a way to properly calibrate them to match the colors better? I can‘t seem to find much info on that…any pointers appreciated.

I’m usually use ScreenLogic to sync but it’s a very rudimentary process of the controller cycling the relays to sync. My only thought is that the distance and voltage from transformer might be off. The low voltage has 3 voltage outputs and usually should be connected to highest output to avoid Voltage drops.

I’m actually a warranty center for pentair. Globrite has a 1 year warranty. Unless purchased when you originally had the pool done. An purchased 3 major items. Than everything is blanketed under a 3 year warranty. I do know some changes have been made to globrite. The microbrite isn’t the new version but just another version. The globrites aren’t going anywhere. I can say. Over the years. I have sent back many bad ones to Pentair. I’m sure many other warranty centers across the country have also. Not just lights though. Pump drives, motherboards, prowler motor packs ect. An I say a lot. But to me it was a bunch of but than again. Nobody calls me to say hey, just wanted to let ya know everything is going great ya know. Any call I get is a problem call. That being said. In the grand scope of how many lights is out there. Not to many was having issues out of the total. I have one customer has 19 globrites. Beautiful pool. Hasn’t had an issue with a single one. I have some with 3-4 out an half of theirs went out. So out of the total the number that have went out. Hasn’t been something crazy. I can say a big issue of what was causing a fail. Was a crack forming in the body. But like said. Many have been sent back to them to look into what it was. Like any other part. To address anything they are able to see that was an issue. And there was a change to globrite at the beginning of 2024. So any after 2024 if you can see the date. Or depending where it’s from. If it has a blue oring on it is another way to tell if it’s a 2024 light. But I have had some swap to microbrite. An I’ve replaced a bunch of them also. But some went that route with the adapter. But I’ve replaced a bunch of them. Also. Unfortunately theirs no outside visual on them to tell how they failed. But I’m also a vendor for Hayward. An they have just as many issues as the other. Jandy I’m sure does. I’m just not really in the loop with Jandy. I have changed a few. Not enough to know much about their stuff. But globrite by itself is a year warranty and microbrite is a 2 year warranty. An either of them is a blanket 3 year warranty if new pool or you bought 3 major items. So panel, pump, heater Or panel, pump, filter ect. Than everything is a 3 year warranty. The only difference with the microbrite is the brightness is not as bright by a little bit. An the actual colors themselves aren’t exact.
