Been wondering for quite a long time now why I could never find videos on my mower.... I refuse to let her die. Thank you very much - superbly done video.

Thanks - Going to give it a shot. Think I may have one of the engines mentioned (YS4500). Just had the throw-out bearing replaced (on the cam) to the tune of +$400. I now have close to 900 in it total. Realize this was a 2k mower. Hope it behaves for a while now.

What would be the problem if you put a new one on and it breaks immediately? The old one was stretched I was told. No pinching or binding that I could see.

got a question for you my cable seems a bit to short and to much tension to engage which way would you move the bracket with the bolt on the mower deck to ease the tension on the spring? I am guess to move it closer to the deck spring??

Wow that is a job to change that cable. Is it much more difficult to put in the cable if the engine is still in place? What a wonderful design. Thanks for the tips. Thanks for the video.

If you have tiny hands it can be done with out removing anything. Others have confirmed they unbolted and moved the gas tank an inch over and do it by feel. To be clear I took the video the way I did to make it clear where and how to do it.

I have that exact same mower, but i dont have that pedal on the right - looks like a gas pedal?

Yours has the forward and reverse hand control lever on the right side. This is the same thing only the forward and reverse controls are on a foot pedal.

So i have a troy built pony. Side pull deck enguagement beside the deck height, right side of seat. 7 speed on the dash with park brake. Have you ever done a video about the pedal adjustment. I can adjust it but would like to adjust it correctly lol. I had it too loose, the adjustment screwed all the way to the end of the bar where it comes off, it started burning. Then I put it in 1st and adjusted the rod to fit into the pulley bracket freely. Now it seems to not want to go until about 3rd gear. I mean it does pull but it needs a lot of throttle. I mow lots of fairly steep hills and tend to ride the brake a lot due to bad dog gears in the trans and dont want it popping out of gear, that was a heck of a ride before adjusting the brakes. Anyway, Any advice would be appreciated

If your machine is the one I think it is. You are going to eat belts on a bunch of hills like that. All it takes on those is losing a bit of the drive belts and they will not go at all in 1 to 3. My advice new belts and remember to tune the clutch pedal so first 2/3 is clutch last 3rd is brakes or you will be putting another set of belts on sooner then you like.
@TOLDyouSOagain2 жыл бұрын
@@redneckcomputergeek that makes sense. I first adjusted it because my short legs only reach 2/3 of the pedal to start with lol. It could use both drive belts.

@@redneckcomputergeek I gave 100 bucks for it and this will be the 3rd season using it. I paid 50 bucks for deck and swapped parts between the 2 until I had a one that works. Im very much like doing what I can for the least i can, it makes me feel good when I keep old stuff working right. My truck is 23 years old with 400,000 and i would trust it to go anywhere.

Hate these cables but they’re pretty easy to replace that machine you’re working on is made by Husqvarna, I have the same exact one in black.

Hi. I bought an old Murray that (apparently) have a seized regulator, so it always stalls when I try to mow with it. The repair shop didn't want to take it on, as it would be expensive and require the engine to be taken out. Thought I'd give it a go, but do you have any tips on how to do it? I can't find any good description of where it is or what it looks like. (Amusingly, the last thing that happened last year before I put it in storage for later was the deck engagement cable snapping, so it's vaguely related to this vid at least. :D )

I miss the simplicity of the older (late 1970's to mid 1980's) "Mechanical" Deck Engagement. Why they had to rely on an ¹/³²" Cable boggles my mind! These ALWAYS fail at one end or the other at the "Fastener"... Or if improperly Stored, the Sheathing allows Water in for the Cable to rust out and snap. Great informative Video VGG! 🖖 -Thomas Western Washington State

My bet is the increase in steel prices caused this change. Around that time decks got thinner and the switch was made to lighter body panels. Even the frame was made thinner after that point.
