I grabbed this deck when it first came out. The marking system is really fascinating.. but difficult for older eyes. I'll be hitting the big 50 this year and there's a lot of work to know what's going on with these cards. For us older magicians, I'd recommend using these in good lighting situations. Create situations to get that suit known and try to get a good look as to what the value is. I grab two or three cards with their chosen and use mentalism. Hold their card up with the others and eliminate the opposite color. Then suit.. lastly the reveal

Thank you, David, for making such a clear and concise instructional video. Marked cards, especially cipher as opposed to reader decks are more of a challenge to learn but well worth the effort. Take care, Greetings from Western Australia.

I bought this deck a few weeks ago and finally got it in the mail today. I took them to work with me to try to figure out the marking system and couldn't so i though I would look online when I got home. Your review was the first thing I saw before I even did a search. When I opened KZbin there it was right on top. Are you doing Mentalism now too? Because you read my mind! Thank you.

Hey David, I found, that the cards are not only marked for suit and value but they also have a one way design so you can literally find the spectators card lost in the deck with a twist of your palm.

To make finding the colour easier one could also look at the side of the card. I personally found it easier because the smudges were more pronounced.

Hey David! I bought this deck a long time ago because I like and vintage looking decks and because it is marked. Thanks for showing the marking system because there it not a lot of information about it online. But I have to say, it is just way to much work for me to memorize this deck. I tried for a while and found that I was still messing it up after I thought I was ready. Thanks so much and stay safe!

A hint, what David shows, but does not explicitely mention is that the marking is also on the face. This helps learning it/memorizing it implicitely everytime you look at the faces.

It’s hard work. But I’ve had them for a few days and the last two evenings I’ve been passing through them for half an hour and in dim light to get a hang of them. They need some learning and I reckon if one keeps doing this they’ll figure out what a card is quite easily and almost instinctively.

I spend so much energy trying to stop my cards from looking like these ones, it's a really clever idea for a marking system though

I had this queued up. after reading the comments I didnt know what to expect. When you said you're looking at the brown smudges I had to rewind to hear it again. After that, there was no way I could not see what other craziness I was in store for. WOW.Spend the effort on Mnemonica instead. Thanks :)

I thought these were no longer going to be available? Maybe it was a different deck. This one looks the same. A few months back I ordered 2 decks that came to about $80 from another retailer, but they did not have anymore in stock and refunded my money. I have been wanting these in stock to do an aging deck in place of a color change and then go into an effect using the haunted key or something along that sort of theme. How did they get around USPC Rider Back ruling? Who cares? I have them on order! Thanks Dave!

For me one major flaw of this deck is that the markings are also on the face, it may help people to learn them but it isn't really necessary and it looks weird that the smudges have those symmetries in cards of the same suit, it breaks the uniqueness of every card.

Thanks for reviewing this deck. I won't be buying it. Could they make it more complicated to read the marking? Holy Sh*t! You'd need a magnifying glass and perfect lighting to see these markings. Not only that, you gotta to remember how to interpret the markings. No thanks. 👎👎👎. 👍👍👍 for the review and saving me some money because I love collecting marked decks. 😁
