Decked Out: The Perfect Minigame

Many minigames have been created, but only one can truly be considered the best. It was @TangoTekLP who created the ultimate Minigame, but I had to ask, could someone try to copy it?

Honestly, even _approximating the vibe_ of Decked Out, *_in Bedrock's janky-as-cluck redstone,_* is an achievement unto itself. If I remember right, Tango either had to do some unholy incantations to make DO2 functional in the Marketplace port of the S9 map, or flat-out was unable to. Not everyone has to be "the face of" something to be capable of novel ideas, and I think you pulled off what you set out to do, quite nicely. Heck, the fact that you got your friends _bickering about the definition of an item set_ proves you got the vibe right 👍

Hugely appreciate this comment. Thank you so much for that. Can confirm that DO2 does NOT work on the marketplace- in fact none of the hermits redstone does on the bedrock port lol. But still it's amazing to see, and it means a lot that you think my attempt was anywhere near that!

I'm currently building Decked-out II on my Bedrock SMP realm. It will be a LITE version, restricted to the 4 chunk simulation distance, but still has a custom map UI built into it. Only hurdles I'm struggling with are audio cues, Tango's card announcements are hard to replace, and my grand entrance, which will manipulate bed spawning mechanics to alter the players spawn point upon death as the entrance to the dungeon. Still 4 levels, still 5 difficulties, but less lodestones throughout (just a dropper full per difficulty). Instead of a competition amongst my few friends on the server, Victory Tomes will be saved up for various gift boxes in the Winner's Circle, including a full beacon setup or an elytra box with rockets. Due to Bedrock's hopper reliability issues, Tango's % chance to lose a card during gameplay is built right into my game naturally. It's not a BUG, it's a FEATURE! We'll see how it plays out though. It may be too small a dungeon with all the redstone and control circuits needing to be within the center of the dungeon to remain active. That is still likely 8 months away given my current rate of progress, but it's worth it. Did You Know?.. you can set spawn point next to a bed (you must die and be spawned to set the exact location), block the spawns around the bed, and be spawned 20+ blocks vertical of that position to the nearest available 2-high gap of air.

We did manage to recreate a perfect copy of the original Decked Out on the Core World SMP, and i'm sure there are other SMPs that must have done the same thing.

Sounds like a skill issue. But really, what you built is really cool! I think Tango's game will inspire a lot of Decked Out style games. However, I do agree that it would be very difficult to top what Tango built! Doing it on PE/Bedrock makes it even harder, I'm sure. And I think we both mean a (mostly) vanilla survival Minecraft mini-game.

Definitely a skill issue- for everyone but Tango himself. There's been a couple comments saying "oh, we recreated a copy of this game exactly!" But the point I was trying to make was not that no one could make an exact copy, but that no one person could ever make a game like this, the way Tango did. Glad you enjoyed it!

Very good video, I enjoyed your editing and commentary. I do agree, original Decked Out is an absolute masterpiece and honestly gets overshadowed by its admittedly far superior sequel a lot, which is sad, because unlike Decked Out 2, the original doesn't use any data-packs and is basically *PURE* Vanilla. I do admit that the sequel is leaps and bounds ahead of the original when it comes to depth, complexity of the mechanics, technicality and the sheer *SCALE* of it all, but the value and importance of the Season 7 Decked Out gets swept under the rug a lot of the times. We wouldn't have the masterpiece of a sequel if not for this version.

I appreciate that a lot! I fully agree, Decked out 2 takes the concept to an entirely new level, but Decked out 1 was so ahead of it's time even in season 7! It's amazing to look back at.
