vaalmonica has been the one fun point for me the past year of yugioh, turning your pendulum scales into a thematic setpiece which tracks whether you listen to the angel or devil on your shoulder. great design, surprisingly resilient for a pend deck, and really fun, (and really good at abusing fiendsmith but thats not here nor there)

Oh, for sure. I think I subconsciously made the assumption most people watching this video would be familiar with the mechanic already. Definitely a mistake though since there are plenty of people who are still new to the game. @pk_tuneworld I actually love it in traptrix. You play 3 of the continuous spell, 3 of the level 1, and 1 of each if the others. Traptrix has so many 1-2 card full boards, and if you open the level 1 or continuous spell, after putting up full traptrix endboard, adds 3-4 extra disruptions to the board. And the best part is that the "garnets" are all also just extenders for the normal traptrix end boards if you draw them, so no matter what part of the engine you open it's gas. The trap also counts sera and other xyz monsters, because it's just types, so the raig trap gets like 2-3 targets consistently, then triggers sera because it's a normal trap

I shill Phantom Knights whenever I can, but I can't help it. PK has two hands, the second being in the GY. It often feels like Infernity-lite. You want a ton of cards in your GY so you can use their effects, and after turn 1 you often have no hand so the GY becomes your hand. It's very fun
@pk_tuneworld5 ай бұрын
Great way to phrase it! And it does feel true - yes, a lot of decks in the present resource a ton from the graveyard. But it's more like an add-on than a key feature if that makes any sense (bar some exceptions). On the other hand, I'd always be astounded playing into PK and seeing them do all this cool stuff on field but then have an extra layer of combos through the graveyard.
@grimvengeance74454 ай бұрын
My recommendation: Magikey. Extremely fun deck to lose with, it can do powerful plays like praying to draw the field spell and any normal monster, doing the same linear „combo” in order to put out a single spell/trap negate after using 99% of your resources, leaving you with almost no follow-up and my personal favourite: surrendering after getting hit with any type of GY interruption known to a yugioh player!

I'm playing Vanquish Soul now because it's the only deck with a unique mechanic, it's extremely complex to calculate when to use ht because you always need to have the greatest number of attributes possible in your hand. Many decks are the same and only require knowing the effects of your cards, the decks you proposed are decks that I already knew and I love because they require the player to think before acting instead of doing a combo as per the "script" (sorry for the bad English)

One thing I want to add about vaylantz is that it's a pendulum deck where its xenolock is very warranted and forces you to think outside the box. In the vaylantz discord we were experimenting with tearlantz, tearlament vaylantz which was made possible because tear could make starving venemy dragon using a pendulum name and a tear name and vaylantz could get the tear line online by going beatrice into sending trivikarma. We also have this really sick striker list that needs to be remodeled like the tearlantz one because of today's banlist. But the deck rewards you for finding really cool boss monsters and going "How do I bridge into this" or "how do I weave this into my combo". It's my favorite deck of all time and it really needs more attention because the brain geniuses we have in the discord have only really scratched the surface.

Blind Going Second OTK is, in my opinion, THE WAY to play the deck(I have a replay against Snake eyes posted here on youtube just to show what the deck can do under the right circumstances and planning). It can do stuff goung first but normally ends on an Apo and Chronocasm with some extra dudes if you're lucky.

Awesome video, Tune. A lot of what drew me to decks like Vaylantz and Weather Painter was the nuiances and style the decks had and all the points you mentioned. Also, it's incredibly satisfying to see someone effect negate a weather paint mon only for the effect to still go through as it's the spell/trap thats being used lol
@pk_tuneworld5 ай бұрын
Wait, is that second part true? If you negate a Weather Painter mon, it doesn't work for that reason? Maybe I forgot about it since I haven't played Painters in a hot minute, but that's insane! Also, thanks for the kind comments as always, InfinityMayo :D Glad to have you.
@InfinityMayo5 ай бұрын
@@pk_tuneworld Ok, after some testing with a friend and a memory refresher, they can only do that under some circumstances. If a weather painter gets targeted by an effect negate, they can use a canvas in the backrow to dodge the negate and use whatever effect the canvas has, but they're also banished that turn as well. If a weather painter is negated and tries to use a canvas effect, it is actually negated and they still get banished too. Yeah, that's my bad, I misremembered or something happened with how the card text works for those cards that I somehow missed the order of how they worked. An odd side note is if a weather painter is negated and tries to use thunder canvas in battle, the effect is negated but the monster that attacked that time can no longer continue attacking that battle phase. 🤔

People is focusing in the handlooping with Fire Sorcerer, but there's an even more evil combo possible, which is what I'm trying to build the deck to make consistently. And most people showing it are trying the combo version, which I think is fun but not the best way to play it. As a rouge deck player, mostly plays Earth Machines, I could say rouge decks is what yugioh should be. They're more of an extension to ourselves. A way to give others a clue on who you are and your personality. Though I also play other decks than Earth Machines like Dragonmaids. That archetype, while slow on their own, the gimmick where you use Sheou's effect to summon Dragonmaids during standby phases is like preparing something for your guests, like your opponent. The combo I love is sheou summons nurse then nurse summons chamber to get me a dragonmaid spell/trap. Plus, the transformation of other dragonmaids when they prepare for battle is an amazing concept. Though I play Dragonmaids for fun, I still mostly use Earth Machines because of the synergy of multiple earth machine archetypes like infinitrack and machina and producing a giant rail cannon and finishing off your opponent really quick. We really should have rouge deck players unite to beat the meta decks and sweaty meta sheeps and show what rouge decks really are.

Even though it's a shadow of its former self with the bans and limits, Tearlament is not only my comfort deck but I've grown to like it a lot more because of the limits and bans, as weird as it sounds. When everything was at 3, it was easily the best deck ever made but also didn't allow for much room for creative deck building nor did you really have to worry about resource management. Now with only 1 of each name, names getting stranded in the GY or banish pile is a very real concern which leads to really creative plays you have to come up with on the fly knowing not only what you've milled but also having a grasp of probabilities of what you will likely mill of the next Scream/Tearkash since you're not borderline guaranteed to dump your whole deck in the GY with Agido+Kelbek hitting each other anymore. There's now room for weird packages like variable-sized DHero subengines, Jet Synchron (Tearkash is a water and 7+1 makes Adamancipator Risen Dragite), Destrudo, or even stuff like Unchained Soul of Shyama who can forcefully activate your S/T effects or pop off Kaleidoheart (who is a fiend). Deckbuilding math for Tear is also really interesting since you need to weigh not only what good starters/extenders/garnets are, but also understand the mill quality (or lack thereof) of each card. The lack of meaningful non-engine room means you're also forced to work out clever chainblocking tricks to break boards in-engine by forcing through effects you need to resolve and consistently leads to some of the most interactive games I've ever played. As corny as it sounds, this is a deck I think has aged like wine and even though it's no longer the forefront of the meta and nowhere near as consistent as it once was, the actual merit of what it brings to the game on both a gameplay and deck building level feels far higher now than at the height of its power.

I really like Weather Painters, Dragonmaid, Ghostricks, Traptricks, Trickstars, Melffy, Borrel/Striker/Topologic, Evil/Live Twin, Sky Strikers, Drytron, Galaxy-Eyes, Horus; Yugioh has a lot of archetypes with cool mechanics and different ways to play, but the problem is that Konami rarely updates for the new formats and puts unnecessary disadvantages in the cards' effects, useless effects or lack of more engine cards, which really make them unviable in competitive terms, sometimes unviable even in rogue, and instead of updating these archetypes, they choose to launch several new archetypes that will also be forgotten and will not receive support.

Mostly agree. I do think Konami does favor some decks over others, though I'd argue they do eventually get around to giving the lesser decks stuff. Just takes way too long.

Dark World is so fun and demands you to be good at the game,not only in the joke way we refer to people getting the best draws in the moment they need,but you also need to play correctly with what you have in front of you. Most effects in the deck aren't once per turn and you can loop the Grapha and Reign Beaux reborn as long as you can get a DW on board and this allows you to create nigh unbreakable boards,but the deck can fit in going second options quite naturally and it also has good tools in Grapha and Bigfoot
@pk_tuneworld5 ай бұрын
Oh, 100% agree with you on that point. I haven't played the deck myself, but I have two good friends who have played it in the past and were incredibly good at it. Legitimately, unless I had a Droll in hand, they seemingly didn't care about hand traps (or at least sequenced in a manner where I couldn't hand trap them effectively) and built near impossible-to-out boards. My only gripe with Dark World is it's incredibly un-interactive. Like, yes, it requires a lot of skill to play well + I respect that amount of skill, but playing against it kinda sucks. Ironic since I mentioned Infernity though LOL

@@lykorrus6802 Haven't messed with the tearsworn variant yet, but vendread savior is another foolish effect. You can lose to ash pretty easy without another starter, but princess can stop you getting otk'd. I'm a little crazy though, So I run 3 burial from DD and 2 pot of acquisition. My pick is Vaalmonica. It's a pendulum deck without the ability to spam all the usual generic combo endpieces, and as a two-card combo deck, the minimal playable engine is like 19+ cards or so, so the playstyle feels very fresh. Especially satisfying to play against unaware opponent and have Zebufera clear the whole field and punch 3 times directly for game. Also, Demonne is a light fiend, you know the drill.

There are 3 levels of decks that exist: top decks (those that are competitive and meta-relevant), anime decks (those that are typically played because of anime association, regardless of playability), and these underground decks that aren't meta nor anime-related, but are any combination of playable, unique, themed, etc. Some decks can fall into multiple categories (ex. 2010 Blackwings- meta-relevant deck from anime, Purrely-uniquely-themed deck that was meta-relevant, Abyss Actors-anime deck that is uniquely-themed) I feel that maximizing enjoyment out of the game involving having the opportunity to cycle between all 3 of these types of decks.

I legit picked up musketeer bc I got tired of snake eyes and got flashbacks to 2016 when i remember their banish trap. The deck is insanely fun with endless possibilities for build variety. The discord even got people that run it with runick (draw 6 ftw), go blind second, or just with fiendsmith using some unchained and top hare shenanigans. Link into the vrains is so funny.
@pk_tuneworld5 ай бұрын
Yeah, I'm so glad the deck is getting love, even if it's indirectly with the Runick cards + Fiendsmith synergy. It was so cool on release and it still is today. Link to the Vrains is also such an insane tech - your opponent can negate it, but then they've wasted a negate. If they don't, you resolve Max safely.

One of the crucial reasons I play Infernity (and I have it as my tournament deck and my main deck) is that the deck just CANNOT use Hand Traps, it should only be a direct combo deck, no defenses, just direct combo and loops, which also forces you to think better about what to use for side and main, not letting you act automatically like "Put 9 or 12 Hand Traps, called, TTT/Crossout. Maybe I'm exaggerating, but I think that later Once you start playing Infernity, you become a better Yugioh player.
@pk_tuneworld5 ай бұрын
I can see it! I'm discovering that, even though it seems easy to combo with the deck, there are so many subtle changes you can make while playing to maximize the things you get out of a hand. E.g., I find myself wondering things like "should I make Dugares here" or "do I need to make Zealantis, or can I save it for later". Of course, there's also the whole thing mentioned in the video where like you can build Infernity in so many different ways that there is technically no right way (bar the zero hand trap concept).

The thing about vaylantz is that it can do whatever you want even though it blocks you. Do you want an FTK? Sure, without problem and consistent, do you like playing blind second better? You will sweep tables in ways you didn't even expect and they won't know how to counter, are you one of those who leave boards that are impossible to pass? You can leave as many floodgates as you want with powerful boss monsters. The learning curve is tough but it is a worthwhile experience and I always recommend
@pk_tuneworld5 ай бұрын
Agreed! It surprises people that the deck doesn't need a normal summon and can play insane pseudo-Kaijus in Sphere Mode and Lava Golem. And the range of ways you can build it - you can build it a traditional pendulum combo deck or lean into oppressive locks (which, if you do, I didn't tell you to do because I would never lock my opponent).

Hello Tune World, this was a fantastic video since you are encouraging people to try some interesting rogue decks. When I saw infernity in the thumbnail, I had to check the video out, and I was not disappointed. I have this channel built around infernity and the deck has insane celling, more than any meta deck could ever have (even snake eyes) especially now with 3 Launchers in Master Duel but playing around handtraps is kind of a problem. New cards made infernity be able to play around Nibiru easily and even Ash, depending on the hand. I thank my opponents when they activate Maxc c on me because then I know I will deck them out 😅 The only card that really stops infernity is Droll&lock bird. Hopefully, infernity gets their own actual starter, so I don't have to resort to other archetypes to get to infernity Archfiend.

Two decks I personally like are Nouvelle and Magikey. Nouvelle is a ritual deck ... WAIT, DONT LEAVE! That has the gimmick of tributing your opponents attack position monsters when targeted, attacked, and in the case of the boss monsters, the whole field when summoned. Magikey makes use of Normal monsters to activate bonus effects. Not particularly good but I find it fun and the multiple boss monsters can easily catch people off guard. The Synchro for example can destroy a special summoned monster if you own that type of Magikey or normal monster in the grave. Add normal card support and the deck is actually surprisingly strong. Not meta strong but if you know what the opponent is playing you can really shut them down.

I would have been soooo happy if Fiendsmiths were low-cost cards... I was planning to play Magical Musket/Fiendsmiths, but I rapidly thought it was a very bad idea once INFO released... It's sad that good recent cards cost a lot. Anyway, love all the decks you presented here, I play almost everyone online (except Infernoty)! What do you think about Ninja to join this range of decks? It's strategy is very unique and quite powerful in its own ways... Ghoti is also an interesting option in my opinion, as well as Witchcrafter, Virtual World and Drytron, which all have special mechanics that are common to only them... Anyway, tank you very much for this video, I'm always very admirative towards your work and dedication for Yu-Gi-Oh community!

@pk_tuneworld5 ай бұрын
Yeah, it sucks that players on a budget like us will have to wait a year + some banlists to play a nerfed version of Musketeer. I'll still look forward to it, nonetheless. Ninja is a great inclusion! To me, it feels like a very old-style deck the way a lot of its combos are kinda roundabout. E.g., you summon a couple of your bigger ninjas via your traps + the use of fusion summons and pseudo-Book of Moon effects is reminiscent, in my eyes, of GOAT. Ghoti is GOATED - I haven't looked at it since it got the insane new support, but it has so much flavor. And I agree that Witchcrafter, Virtual World, and Drytron are quite unique. Even though it's note quite the same, kinda unfortunate White Woods sorta power creeps the former two. Drytron is still the only deck in it's niche - I probably should've brought it up. Thank you, by the way, for watching the video! As I mention in the video, it's you and all my other viewer's enthusiasm for these type of videos that pushes me to keep making content. Maybe I'll make a sequel and talk about all these other decks people are bringing up LOL

The various builds of paleo are what I seem to be enjoying currently, the 60 card build is unique in the random cards it can pull from yugiohs history, the tearlament build is fun with the amount it does in your opponent's turn (I jave actually confused someone into thinking their turn was mine), and I am cooling an exodia build using backup soldiers to recur milled pieces, and then using leoncholia on the exodia trap to get the last two

@pk_tuneworld5 ай бұрын
Again, I'm biased right now, but Infernity is great. Literally, if they don't hand trap you too much, you dump your entire life savings into one board with near zero follow-up. Your board gets outed, your board gets outed - if it doesn't, you've won. Not the deck for everyone, but worth a shot LOL I do think Dinomorphia is a really cool concept - I think the fact that you can get out the major fusion monsters off of trap cards let you splash the deck quite a bit. E.g., you could just have Dinomorphia be a background engine to something like PUNK.

Cyberse is a type that has dominated the generic lottery for a while now, but I feel that out of all of the Cyberse decks Salamangreat is the most unique one (I'm probably missing some Cyberse decks and this is probably incorrect, Ignisters are also cool too, but they end on fairly generic boards). Yes, Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf and Raging Phoenix are abused by Fire decks, yes, Salamangreat Abuses Promethean Princess, but it also takes up your entire extra deck and forces you to think about the way you set up your boards because of the idea of Reincarnation that it follows, no other deck requires you to have multiple copies of cards so that you can reincarnate them and this is something I find incredibly fascinating about Salamangreat. Pairing them with Fire Kings adds to these concepts due to the fact that they too rise stronger from the ashes. And also there are so many variants that each play a different game No Pyro Salads, Pyro Salads, FTK Salads, Snake-Eyes Salads, Fire Kings Salads and so on. The deck is incredibly fun and I highly recommend it

Oh, Salamangreat is undoubtedly great. Was broken when it first came out - even if it's not as great as it was then, it's still a solid deck. As you mention, Princess gives the deck a ton of extra power. And you can still make those solid endboards of both Salad traps + hand traps in hand + follow-up. Not too familiar with Fire King or any of the non-Pure Salad stuff, but if works for Snake-Eyes I don't see why it wouldn't work for Salad.

I have admittedly played this deck and agree. Sure, you have to draw like exactly Rod + the correct Vylon + Vylon Element. Sure, you also need your opponent to not hand trap you at all (both this and the former pre-Fiendsmith - idk what Fiendsmith adds). But when everything goes correct, you win.
