Beautiful, I'm native american, and I love how included the pain we've had. This is truly amazing.

"independence day didn't bring any of us freedom especially if we are still celebrating it." That phrase was probably one of the most amazing and significant words spoken. ever.

I've watched about 20 of these, and I just wonder why they let that woman going "c'mon, MMM oh yeah, uhh-huh, yep, c'mon" stand right next to a microphone. Last video I even heard someone telling her to sush. She blanks out so many of the best parts from so many poems.

@DJPKBOO33 The line which mentioned Trinidad (which was about my mom, not me) is about people coming from different countries to the US, and being called "aliens." They are human beings just like us. I also mentioned several different races, and all of the hardships that each one has had to go through while being in this country. By the way, at Brave New Voices, I have heard the poetry team from Guam speak on things that are not right about America, as well.

I love your videos. I love how they bring out the issues of the world. People just push homophobia and racism aside but there both big issues.

this was 11 years ago!!!! this is beautiful music to my ears, the amount of cold hard truth would put those racists in their graves if they were alive but one thing i gotta say is......were all human and the day we see we are all the same on the inside is the day the world will have peace. we all have a tough life no matter the skin, race or religion. i grew up in a ghetto were i was a target cuz of my skin and because of what others thought "my ancestors" did. my ancestors were irish and they were slaves for 90 years to the british and swedish, but im still a target but i don't care. i treat everyone the way they deserve to be treated, with respect and honor. i don't care for the color of your skin, i care the way you treat others and me.

Hello, everyone! I have posted my latest poem on my profile, "For the Boys Molested by Gerald Sandusky." It's heavy... but please don't be afraid to listen.

Excellent poem and delivery. I love the emotion, the passion and your talent is profound. My only issue is that many of us who are "white" have also suffered and continue to suffer. I believe you left us out of that equation and it comes across as a bit bias. that being said, it is YOUR experience and point of view and I totally respect and honor that. Good luck to you. You were amazing on Brave New Voices!
