You wouldn’t believe how much fabric I decluttered! Hundreds of dollars worth! What was I thinking?! My daughter helped me and she found an outlet for it. I didn’t want this expensive fabric to go to the dump eventually. My daughter found a place called Union Gospel Mission in a nearby town. They were so happy to receive this beautiful fabric to sell in their thrift store. The proceeds from this store benefit the homeless. It made me feel so much better! I’m working on other areas now!

For craft supplies, if I haven't used it in a year and probably won't use it, I put it out on the table one afternoon and let the kids go crazy using whatever they want to create their own masterpieces! After that afternoon I get rod of any that's left. The kids love the old craft supply free for all!

I do the whole house at the same time. My rule is to remove three articles from each room EVERY day. Takes no more than 5 minutes on any day. Instead of a huge, dreaded chore, it builds the mindset of keeping things minimal and in order on a daily basis.

I just retired last week and yesterday was our last kid to get married so while I was putting house back to normal after houseguests I listened to your last two videos and decluttered as I set the spaces back up for how we actually live. I see lots more even though we’ve decluttered slowly over a decade because I’m in shape down 35 pounds sustained for a year and just need clothes for this stage of life. So much easier to let go now.

Iam down to photos and scrape books. Divided some up for my son and married granddaughter. I have still so many, because I am 77, we took pictures when young as well as my parents and grandparents. I have made up my mind not to unload them all on my son and granddaughter, so slowly I go through and toss a group into the trash. It's hard but who else would want them, nobody!

I'm not a minimalist, but I started to decluter and organize little by little quite some time ago. My mom's participation in all that ends in constant interfering, hoarder's hysterics, mocking, demotivation and MORE MESS, One day she went to her friend's place (true hoarder's den, they still have a crib standing in the middle of the room, and poor child is 10!). And when she returned home, she looked around and said: "Oh, our home is so... spacious. We have.. so few things, I can move freely without bumping into anything!" Haha, it was fun :)

I have a sentimental vintage suit case. I started it in high school. Over the 26+ years I’ve gone through it and found prom stuff was less important after becoming a mom. I highly recommend going through the sentimental boxes every 5 or 6 years. Also, I try and use my sentimental items as decor. I usually make it to put on the walls. Then I have my two walls going to the basement where our laundry is to hang these items. I like layered decor, but not in my main living spaces. I enjoy going to the basement and I don’t get overwhelmed in other spaces.

I have a large 6ft Christmas tree that we decorate with lots of old decorations and I also hang those momentos from weddings, baby baptisms etc. that I have picked up over the years. That way those things don't clutter up my house and I get to see them once a year and remember those good times.

I worked on decluttering the craft supplies this week. I hope someone feels blessed finding these treasures at the thrift store. I see so much possibilities in them but I know that I am not the one to make use of it anymore. We definitely go through stages in life and it is important to reevaluate all the "stuff" to declutter what is not relevant in the stage we are in. I enjoy your videos and you are so right that it is motivating to watch others going through the process.

I'm sure that it took a lot of work to compile all of these clips, Shannon. I appreciate all of your hard work! Before I started my decluttering, I read a lot as I found it motivating. Then, I joined KZbin and found even more inspiration. It is amazing all of the things we keep over the years!!! I think the biggest thing is to get really realistic about ourself/our lives. We go through many seasons in our lifetime. I much prefer my life now after so much decluttering. It's a much calmer state to be in now. You and your mom have decluttered so much over time. It's been a joy watching you. Thank you, Shannon!

I agree. My biggest impetuous to de clutter is when I have a change of season, a new mindset about what the next 2-5 years will be like. I get stuck for so long, and I hate opening up that box or that closet and pulling everything out cause it takes dedicated energy to the exclusion of some daily tasks, but that’s what works for me. And yes, I admire the time it took to put together all these clips of decluttering different areas. And, thank you for mentioning that it takes a while in a new place to figure out where items should be placed. I’ll try to remember to go thru stuff 6-12 mos after move-in. 😅

I have found you doing your back yard and now watching these videos that are popping up. I moved here to care for family members. I started organizing Mom's things to intigrate my things in with hers. Then after years I started to minimalize. Mom passed away and I dug deeper into the house. I can say I have gotten rid of, donated, passed along to family much of our stuff. But! After watching a couple of your videos, I see 2 places that I need to work on. The linen closet seems to always need addressing. And the garage. Which strikes fear in my heart! My son and I rented a truck when I moved here to get rid of what needed to be taken to the dump. I have taken old American flags to be disposed of properly and do not keep pkging, I always recycle. But there are tools that need to be removed and donated. It is so hard to go through these and make choices of what to do with them! I think I am going to tackel both of these and clean them up before winter. Thanks for the push!

#2 that was me and your swedish death cleaning video with your Mum. Ive watched heaps of inspiring declutterung videos but that one was like a shot of turbo power. I have a number of projects to work on: 1) Kids room (always haha). 2) The roof storage space. Its really hard to access. Hubby gave up accessing it quite a few years ago after an injury. Up until recently I hadn't minded getting up there, but I suddenly find I don't want to either. I'm going to sort it out for good whilst I still can. 3) Inherited items. I have my parents heirlooms, and we also just cleared out hubbys parents. I need to go through it all and evaluate how many we want to keep, now that we have both households together. How much lead crystal do you really need? At least once a week now I'll open a drawer or cupboard and reorganize it. It feels like there's boxes and furniture permanently living on our front porch, bevasue as soon as I get rid of one lot I generate another, but it won't always be this bad.
