Me too ❤ I was always extremely tidy and organised until my boys got to teenagers I just decided then the stress of keeping up with the house got too much and they didn’t want to spend their lives cleaning either. So now although our home isn’t too bad I don’t worry about a cobweb or two now

Maybe aunts, uncles, friends.. the girl herself can buy stuff .. there were 12 birthdays and 12 times Christmas already - we don’t know who brought it and „allowing“ is a wide term . I know my kids get gifted WAY too much stuff and I don’t want any of it but I let them keep it for a while or until the next declutter or until its broken .. it gets harder to take away stuff the older they get.. as a baby I would donate everything I didn’t like

When I was 12, Ikea came to town and I was allowed to get some new things for my room, I felt so grown-up! It was nothing fancy, natural wood, a coffee table, a plant stand, mirror, bedding, a bookshelf for my books and a small stand for my record player… this was 1977 and I still remembrr the pride! We didn‘t have the fancy bedroom sets like the US had, and the rooms were much smaller, but I loved this.

Awesome job...and how fun to discover treasures that have been hiding! My granddaughter and I did this and she was amazing - she had always avoided going through her things because she was afraid that she would be 'judged' for her excess -- we had a ball doing this together and ended up taking 7 large bags of clothing to sell and/or donate. She was so proud and already mentioned that we needed to do this again sometime soon ... she was 23 and living in an apartment - so I will make myself available to her whenever she is ready again!

Yes her hair is lovely, I stopped colouring my hair in lockdown it was a non permanent colour anyway, my hair was nearly black and short now it's steel grey and bobbed. I love it and I get a lot of compliments. ❤

It's possibile:) I started doing declutter with my daughter when she was little and each few months we repeating the process, so she is able to declutter her toys/things she no longer like/use;)

It has more to do with the parenting than the kids. Kids who are always asked for permission and asked what they want, develop more of an understanding for their own opinions including what they want in their own space.

I kept a lot of non-sensible things because I rarely got anything of value or things I actually wanted. It's an easier transition to sit with them and discuss the items or just simply replace a lot of old things with fewer newer things. (That goes for things like shoes and jewelry too.) It's been a while since I graduated, but still throwing away stuff from middle school, lol. Homework, used notebooks, etc. The attachment actually gets crazy like that.

It is really helpful to have the mom and the daughter doing the decluttering together. Less stress with what to do with all the unneeded items. By yourself, it seems so daunting.

As a mom I understand wanting to keep things of your child’s even though they’re ready to let go. I still have some of my son’s baby clothes and he’s 28.😂 Now his wife is so happy as she is hoping if she has a boy one day he can wear the clothes.🥰

13 is such a tough year. One step in, one step out. She did great So many memories from my childhood….nancy drew books, and so much from my girls bedrooms. Funny thing about girls with messy bedrooms, they usually grow up to keep their own spaces clean. Was a messy teen, still a messy adult (but quite minimal - it doesn’t get that bad). But messy teens sometimes learn to try different methods to get their homes under control 😅

I just did this w my friends daughter while I stayed w them during my fire evacuation. Luckily, my apartment was safe. Most of our focus was on clothes. We created several categories: keep, donate, sell, give to friends, and hopes and dreams (items she loves but don’t fit like she wants them to today). We were able to get all the clothes/shoes/accessories into her one closet, except the sell and hopes and dreams, which she will either store under her bed or in the garage. We bought a few more better quality hangers and a new shoe rack. I taught her to Marie Kondo fold pjs, undies, tanks, tees and athletic wear. Now she knows where everything goes and she is motivated to keep it organized. We plan to tackle her desk, beauty products, school and art supplies another day. She seemed so happy about her progress. Thanks for sharing and motivation!❤

Great job!! Yes, start when they are young showing them how to declutter (and clean) just as you did today but start sooner. Do it a couple of times a year as they are growing up and it will be something they expect to do. Will ultimately be useful into adulthood.

I am loving the My Little Pony collection! Brings back a lot of memories. What I love most about this is that the room is as is to start, no pretense about who she is and is willing to show the glow up. Loved this video. Such a cute room and she ( and obviously both mom and Carla) did a great job. The one thing I would do is get a nice new cat tree for in front of the window. Her cats love that room and window it appears and there are so many pretty cat trees out there now. I was cooking whilst watching so maybe I missed something. People have always complained about teens not cleaning their room. They don't even realize their situation. Being a teen comes with tons of changes. Gradually desciding to part with your childhood stuff, curating a life you don't even know yet, while being called lazy and chaotic is very hard. It's so great to see the support you show each other and the transformation in such a short time is amazing!

This was really fun. I enjoyed the energy of this young woman. She now has a beautiful bedroom and worked hard to accomplish the task. Love the can do spirit. When I was 12, I was in charge of keeping our classroom storage closet neat and tidy. After watching me organize it one day, my teacher said to me "I bet you have a clean, neat bedroom". I said yes, but how did you know? She said "because you don't try to save everything. You throw things away'. I never really thought about it, but she was right. I get rid of stuff.

I loved decluttering and rearranging my room, as a teenager. It was my space and I enjoyed making decisions. I found it harder and harder to let go of things as I got older but now, thank goodness, I am back on track! Another great video, Carla!
