I am going to kindly and respectfully suggest that if you have three teenagers living in the home, there should be four people sharing the work load. You are a family, a team, and you are the captain of that team. It is a very good idea to have everyone on the team feel some responsibility for the health and welfare of the team. Doing so prepares them for a day in the not too distant future when the will be out on their own. They will then need those skills to maintain their own homes. That education starts at home while they are growing up. We had chores when I was a kid, things we were responsible for that benefitted the household. It sounds as if you are unnecessarily shouldering all of that burden alone. I feel very sorry about that. The boost to your mental health would be huge if you had one person clear the kitchen, one take out the trash, etc. so that no one beats the burden alone - and it is certainly a burden when it all falls on one person. Many hands make light work and you have many hands available to help you. I wish you better days ahead with less stress, less clutter, and a family with a spirit of cooperation because they love their mom. Or at least don’t want to lose privileges if they don’t. We all deserve to seek good mental health. My husband saw that I was doing 2 loads of laundry a day and taught my fairly young teenage sons how to do laundry. It never dawned on me that they could do it but they did and that ended up taking a big load off my shoulders when I got home from work. It’s a good feeling to be a contributing part of something bigger that contributes to the well being of all.

Hi Belinda, thank you for your comment. Absolutely agree. My kids are pretty good at helping out. Walking the dog, cooking dinner, hanging out washing etc. My main problem is that we just have too much stuff. You can't tidy clutter. It just get moved around. This is my battle! But I loved to hear your recommendations, thankyou.

Me and my brother also had chores to do every day before my mum and dad got home from work. All washing up done, hoover and dust (we had a dog), keep our rooms tidy, put all our own things away from the living room. Then we'd have to set the table, then clear the table. On Friday after school I'd have to go shopping with my mum to help her carry everything home (she couldn't drive) Completely HATED having to do all this at the time, I felt like a slave, but it set me up for life. I live alone and all responsibilities fall on me. My house is always clean and tidy and organised most of the time. Thank you for your lovely video. Gorgeous kitchen! I loved the quote about external clutter mirrors internal clutter.

Totally agree! Single mum here with severely disabled adult daughter and menopausal! I care for her 24/7 myself. I have learned that being organised and clutter free is the only way I can function healthily. Having separate spaces to walk away to. My calm place. I set up a space for my daughter where she can paint and do crafts, but where I can shut the door and not worry about having to clean and sort constantly. It’s been a process. Taken years to get to where I am, but it’s worth it for sure. My son is due home from university in a week and I have just done a massive deep clean so we can enjoy family time while he’s home. Sending strength and good wishes to everyone on their journey.😊

You’re spot on. I’m finally catching up to the mess of my home after 5 years of mourning my mum and big brother’s death. My mind was wrecked. Now, thankfully, I’m doing so much better and going through their items, facing the fear with God beside me. I’ve been laughing more than being sad, recalling brilliant memories. I feel no need to keep their items as I’ve my memories. It quite liberating!

Your video title drew me here, first time viewer.. Your calm and low pitched tone goes hand in hand with the subject of the video. I liked the filming style.. curated audio monologue to a visual of decluttering and tiding up of the kitchen counters. ❤❤ Aesthetics are 70-80% a byproduct of a neat, tidy breathing space..

This was so relaxing and calming, just like a clean and tidy home. Not only is your pantry beautifully organized, but also your batteries, drawers, etc. As you said, the mess was simply superficial. The framework is all in place.

Friends can help us identify what's nice in a room and help us bring it more to the forefront, or move things around a bit. For example, her kitchen shade is quite pretty and if it were pulled down a bit it could provide a textured design for that wall & look nice! It would also hide some of the scraggly shrubs that sit outside and in front of the window. If I can see what's outdoors it becomes part of the indoors. Could also bring some cozy warmth to the kitchen.

I like the message. However, there are a few typos in the subtitles which is distracting. In my opinion, you don't need to put subtitles because KZbin has a subtitles/closed caption button that is auto generated. I hope you continue to make videos about decluttering. You have a lovely voice. 💜

Hi Kathleen, thankyou for your constructive comment. The process of editing and creating videos is a huge learning curve, and theres still a lot to learn! But yes the subtitles does do weird things with the translation sometimes.

I think we must shift from the perspective of personal guilt to acceptence of us being raised by tv, commercials that buying is human nature: it's not. Life is not about how much more we need, but with how less we can get through. No lion pack would hunt down five gazelles at the same day. It would be a loss of energy: in our human , modern world it's a loss of money and time to buy and to store, take care of these items. What is of practical use: 1 cup per person 1plate per person 1 big pot for soup, cooking pasta 1 big pan 7 pair of socks per person 7 underwear 7 trousers 2jackets (summer, Winter ) etc
