It has been so tempting to just rot and feel sorry for myself, but you always get me inspired to take care of my home. I unexpectedly quit my teaching job in the middle of the school year while 3 months pregnant. I had planned to stay home after baby was born, but it happened earlier than expected. I had a couple weeks of wallowing, but the whole situation ended up being a blessing in disguise. You will make small adjustments and everything will be okay. Promise 😊

If I could go back in time and make one change that would have made my parenting small children 1000x easier, it would be to declutter 3/4 of their toys and clothes and keep it super minimal, creative, and simple.

My New Years resolution is to go through every room of my house all 12 rooms and declutter. I have started it feels so good. I spend the morning going through things. If I can't remember the last time I used it its gone. When the clock hits 12:00 I'm done till the next day. I feel REALLY GOOD when I stand back and look at my progress.

I made my wedding dress into a Christmas tree skirt. It was a great way to reuse it, and enjoy it once a year instead of hanging in the back of my closet.

For grease stains take a small dot of dawn dish soap and massage into the item and rinse with water before putting in the wash. The dish soap cuts the grease and the stain is gone.

I use an old toothbrush with dawn dish soap to get out oily stains on my husband's clothes...he is always tinkering in the garage...

I came to the comments to see if anyone suggested this. I do this and it works like a charm! I don’t even rinse it before I put it in the wash. I just let it sit on the stain for a couple of days.

I hate missing pieces, too! However, I do have an excellent solution for the puzzles with the pieces, I put velcro dots on them! Game changer!

When I wear something, once it is washed and I go to hang it up and hang it with the hanger facing the opposite direction. Then about every three months I check to see what is facing the other way and then decide if I am going to wear it or donate it. My daughter has started that with her children's clothes and love how easy it is to decide what to keep and what to get rid of. I have been doing that over 30 years.

Your maternity clothes could go in a nice basket and stay up on the high closet shelf. Also a few years ago I bought all new matching hangers and it made a huge difference. The uniformity of the hangers really makes a closet look so nice.

Having a big family is one perk of decluttering-- sending the group chat photos of stuff to be claimed or hauling a box of clothes to the next family gathering and letting the cousins go wild-- boom. It's gone, and I love it😂 Great video, lots of inspiration here!

Feel better soon! We've had so much snow and ice here, so I have stayed indoors and organized/decluttered to have something fun to do. Okay, maybe fun isn't the best word, but it has been rewarding. I started with my bathroom cabinets and moved to my Tupperware (one of the hardest things for me to keep organized). So many good tips in this video Megan!

I'm glad you brought up your planner. I bought one. I understand why you made it so people could customize the dates. But I tried to pen in the dates throughout the year. I didn't follow the normal calendar dates and I started each month on the new page rather than starting a month mid week. My bad. I figured there would be enough pages for each month. I am short about 6 pages to finish the year. I am bummed. I even slept on it when I came to March and figured that there were enough pages to cover 31 days each month. And then as I was finishing numbering the pages today, I could only get through mid-November and no December, which are two of the most busy months. I was a little disappointed to say the least. I bought new colored pens to make it all nice. I don't think I will buy a non-dated planner again. With all my Dr. appointments I need the days all spelled out. I need my calendar accurate.

I love a good declutter. I feel like I’ve gotten really good and staying on top of my clothes. If i have an item I find myself never reaching for, I’ll look up outfit ideas on pinterest and see if I can find a way to style it that I like and I make myself wear it…if I’m still not happy with it, it gets donated.

I keep my stained jean skirts for working in the garden and in our wooded area of our yard. Sometimes it's worth keeping a few for those home jobs that need clothing that can get dirty. We are also decluttering..

Every parent is different, but I find that playing with your children is very important! Coming from someone who had one parent who did another who didn’t, I definitely appreciate my mother for spending that playtime with us. She always let us lead whatever was going on, but she could definitely encourage our creativity and critical thinking more than we would’ve been able to do on her own. Alone, time is obviously important as well. However, some of the best memories that I have Are playing make-believe with my mother and sister.

I hang my hangers "backwards" and then you can tell what you have not worn at the end of the year or deadline of decluttering the clothes you don't reach for. at all. Also, those things at the bottom of a drawer are probably not being worn either. You wash and put the ones you just wore on top. So either put the just washed/worn on the bottom to see if you will reach for previously bottom clothing or dig for the ones you actually wear that you just washed/wore. This helps alot!! Thanks for sharing.

Love these tips. I also love the time will tell bin method for clothes. Declutter things you don't think you'll miss, but store them somewhere out of the way. If you don't miss them in 6 months, yup, time to go.

I stopped keeping stuff for best, I use them all the time now. Easiest motivator for having a clear out. Move house, we have done a death clearance, I am 72 because we are moving house. Save my daughter a job when I am gone

Yay! We're ducluttering and organizing at our house, also! Oof, getting rid of something with a grease stain makes me cringe... dawn dish soap will get out any grease stain in my experience. Even fuel stains! Dawn powerwash specifically works really well.

@MeganFoxUnlocked You're in for a treat! There's something about the satisfaction of getting a stain out. 😊 I buy the free & clear version, although, it still has a scent to it. Spray the stain liberally and let it dry overnight. Wash as usual. If it didn't come out entirely, repeat the process. I have even gotten out dried stains that I didn't notice the first round washing. 🎉

Decluttering is a full time job in itself 😂! Honestly ive no idea how so much stuff just piles up in nooks and spaces in the cupboard just wait for nik nacks to make their way to them lol.. i de clutter just before Christmas so that when the tree is up and various seasonal items are about i would swap them out and store away day to day things so it makes sence to do away with things at that point so i dont have to put them back out after Christmas 😊 and then de clutter. My wardrobe im really intentional on and follow the Marie condow method and one thing in and 1 has to go. Great video but i was exhausted for you 😂!

I am new to finding a more conservative lifestyle, and there are no mennonite churches in my area except a very conservative pilgrim mennonite church, but I find motivation from you because it seems like you have what I am looking for in lifestyle changes, more simple without giving up everything...I have made some changes to clothes and covering but I love that I don't have to change everything, but increase my faith and my understanding...I didn't really know that there could be more modern mennonites than what Amish mennonite church is in my area...I live in NW Ohio, which doesn't have much mennonite. I love the two churches I attend every other week, and I love that having this conviction to become more modest, isn't suggesting giving up everything I grew up with...I still watch TV to some degree but I am slowly becoming a reader more than a TV person...I find assurance and motivation from you, that I am making better choices...

One of my favorite tips comes from professional organizer Peter Walsh: “Respect the limits of your space.” Even if you have items that you want to keep, if the designated space isn’t big enough for all of them-you have to get rid of some things.

You should start with just a draw and when that is done move on, it's less overwhelming that way and a small enough project to do in half a hour.

Batteries for toys can work out quite expensive - I can really recommend the Ikea rechargeable ones, they are very reasonable prices and the charger case is very neat with room to store charged batteries as well as recharging.
