I really enjoy keeping the table clear. I love the sense of space and also having somewhere for DD to make jigsaws or do arts and crafts.

It makes a big difference to a room. I’m hoping to set up a specific jigsaw desk in my office. 😁

I had a serious talk with 71, and 34 , two grown men. They both have their own pleasant generous spaces , roomy desks and tables . I hope the final one about keeping their stuff off the table. I have a corner by the coffee pot and I keep clear! They can put their used dished in the dish washer, really. Food in the fridge please. I think they are just used to me picking up after them, hence the heart to heart. I really told them how I felt about it in a calm voice. Sundays , a fresh tablecloth and garden flowers go on. Mr 71 got it, Mr. 34 resisted a bit!

This is great. Gonna watch it again to take it all in I haven’t got a junk drawer! It was spite after having lived with one for almost 30 years. I hated it, could never find anything, never knew what it was, always ran out of the stuff I needed that I was “supposed to” keep in that drawer. Now each thing that goes in “junk drawer” has a home. I have an adhesives drawer for tape and glue. A drawer by my kitchen sink has batteries, and wall hanging devices (screws, 3M command strips, etc). Spare plugs and cords are all kept separate in their own home. I just got so sick of having a drawer for the purpose of just.... filling with stuff that we “needed” but we called junk. If it’s junk why do we have it? Spite organizing works.

Daddy Bunny is basically glued to her at all times. She has to do most things one-handed. Ha ha.

About two months ago, I committed to clearing the dining room/kitchen table every Sunday before breakfast. There are two of us and it is a table for 6, so the far end collects the weekly paper, some mail, things to go down the basement, and ??? This decision to have the table clear for at least one morning has helped me deal with overall clutter better. Plus I make Eggs Benedict every Sunday and use the good china and crystal glasses. This is an added bonus, because when else would I use these nice things, especially during a pandemic? Plus the table gets a good polish after the table is cleared. Sundays are lovely days....

This is so helpful! I didn't get to do this last year as we were in the middle of a big move but now I am going through it and this video is one of my favorites! With the suggestion to make a list of jobs for the table, I made a little spreadsheet so I could come up with solutions and I gave myself a little list of tasks from going through the process of finding the best locations and solving the roadblocks to a cleared off table! My dining table acts as a drying rack quite often, so it is even more apparent to me than it already was that I need to get myself a good lay-flat drying rack for our sweaters! So obvious but when the whole house is full of little issues it can be so hard to see the forest through the trees! Although I have mostly been getting rid of things for this challenge, I think my assignment today is to actually buy something! So ironic, but it will make laundry so much easier, and the dinner AFTER the loads of laundry WAY easier!

WUHOO! Sometimes all it takes is a second to spot the root cause of an issue. And how wonderful when you can finally fix it!

I’d recommend keeping your table bare as the ‘baseline’. Don’t keep any decorations on there at all - stuff attracts stuff. If you keep it bare it’s easy to wipe down after every time you use it and you don’t have to think about what stays behind

This one is fun ... I think of certain places as "dead water" things flood in but do not get out. The kitchen table usually is clear. Usually. People sit down to do thongs on it without getting dishes and crumbs away, but it tends to get cleared all the time , but the stuff ends up on tbe counters, to stay, until somebody misses it. Then we have the dining table and the coffee table, in the same room, and sometimes I feel like I move the same things back and forwards between them. Until they end up on some other furniture. Mail. Books. Papers. Electronics. Crafting. Pens. I put pretty things there, that just gets scuffed to the side.

LOVE LOVE LOVE your decluttering videos! I’m a fairly new subscriber. Have you done the 30-day minimalism game?

I live in a small one room apartment and my dining table is the only table I have. So usually it is sooo filled with other stuff that I've been just eating in the sofa while watching tv. Well, now I took the time to declutter it so at least tonight I can have my dinner at the table! 😁 This is not a long term solution, because it's not likely that I just suddenly learn to put everything in their places when I'm not using them. But I desided to get a nice basket under the table, so I can just put everything I don't currently need in there. That should really take less than a minute, so I guess that even I could pull it off...🤔😁😂😂

YESSS! WELL DONE! Enjoy your dinner in your lovely decluttered space. =)

I always have my wallet, phone, keys, bullet journal etc. on my dining table, haven't figured out a better place to keep them since I don't really have a hallway or something like that. I have a little bowl on my dining table so that these things are at least together. It's not perfect, but it's good enough for now I guess!

I have a beautiful hand turned wooden fruit bowl, somewhere on the table. Today, it's under some papers and photographs I looked out for my family tree research. And a foam box that has 1 little l e d light. There were 8 in the box. Is there a place for it somewhere else? Of course there is and I will put it with all the other spare bulbs. That box is in my bedroom cupboard, the very same bedroom I inhabit for hours on end and the door of which is about 6 feet from the dining table. ( I'm in a ground floor flat) Erm, not right now though! You didn't mean right now did you?!! Right now, I have to look online for very flat doormats and don't really have time to pick up a tiny light. 😂😂💃😀

Mail ends up on the table. I've tried several mail systems before. Since your videos, I've digitized mail and opted out of junk mail. 'm hoping this helps.
