Decluttering Woah I Got Rid Of So Much! Small Areas, Big Mess Huge Declutter Closets & Hidden Spaces

Hey party people! Thanks so much for hanging out with me while I share this new declutter video with you! I hope you get some great decluttering motivation while I go through my whole house basically not really okay so I started decluttering today with my kids back to school clothes in mind. I knew I needed to go through their dressers and look at their inventory and see what they needed for back to school, decluttering and getting rid of what they have grown out of this past year and wow did I get rid of a ton! It was great motivation for me to keep going through little areas in my house like the living room, linen closet, and a little space in my kitchen! the amount of stuff I got rid of just from these little unseen areas in my house was awesome! It feels good to have it clutter free and I hope it gives you the motivation to go through somewhere in your home that may need some decluttering!

We moved after 40 yrs of marriage and 30 years in the same house. Your children will not want a lot of the childhood stuff you save. Things like school papers and awards. Old memorabilia. I just took photos of a lot and then chunked it! They were happy and it was amazingly freeing. My granddaughter wanted nothing to do with the “special dresses” I had saved. Donated them. I came from the Deep South where every bride acquired fancy china, silver serving ware and such. No one wants that now. I pulled up my big girl pants and donated it. What is left, I told my children to sell, donate or pawn when I am gone and not to stress over it.

Sorry chiming in days later as a mom of 2 from Italy, I currently live in a big house with plenty of space and both of my kids are under 10, I struggle a lot, I do have the space to store it but at the same time I’m a minimalist at heart (now my husband would not agree with this statement) 😂 I have 2 huge boxes one for each kid for school and awards memorabilia, that has to last all the way through high school. It’s painful to go through every single drawing, artwork or school notebook but we can’t keep it all! At the same time I’m kind of mad with my mom for not keeping ANY of this stuff As a 37 yo who has kids in school I would have loved to see some of my old school stuff and show it to my kids, as with anything they key is balance!

I always employed the black bag trick as well. (my youngest is now 16) More often than not, when I decluttered while they weren't home, they never missed a thing. Except one time- I didn't get the bag out of the house before my son got home, and one of the battery operated toys went off. I will never ever forget my kiddo's face as realization set in and a look of absolute horror and betrayal set in! I never made that mistake again, let me assure you. I still black bagged, but the bags left the premises the moment they were sealed 🤣

I don't know if you're like me, but if I had a cabinet with glass doors, I wouldn't want to see what's inside, from the outside. I would put paper, probably wrapping paper, on the inside of the glass. I would cut it to fit the glass, and use glue dots to secure it to the glass, on the edges, where you wouldn't see them from the outside. Super simple, and you could pick a nice print or a solid, to coordinate with your decor. Idk, just an ide. You could even have Eleanor do it. I bet she would like that. Great job decluttering! You are ruthless! I'm waaaayyy too sentimental.

I had so many candles but didn't like the open flame with animals (and in your case small kids) around. Discovered the warmer lamps and now have them all over and on all the time with wonderful fragrance in the house all the time!

Good job with the candle purge! I know that had to be hard. I recently did the same, and boy it was not easy. I put them in a box and set them out for neighbors to come get. It was a great feeling to see my candle space less cluttered.

For your cubord under your TV, maybe try some craft sheet on the inside glass..silver, white or holographic. Gives it an edge look and will also show the pattern of the wood still. Plus u won't see what's behind. Just an idea 😊

Hi Kim! Just a suggestion with your candle cupboard, you should move the basket of electrical items into the open section with the wifi box, then you can shuffle the holiday seasons candle box set down with the bag of oils so candle related packages are together on one shelf and there will be more room on the top shelf so you don't have to stack the candles. This creates more accessibility to each candle without accidentally smashing them since they're in glass jars and it will be easier to see which candles you have. Not to mention aesthetically pleasing! You've already done a great job, keep up the great work! It looks so good! ❤🥰🌼🌷🌻🕯🦋💎

I love shutterfly and have always used them for birth announcements. You have got me on a scrapbooking kick and I am making baby photo albums for each of my kids before our little one is born. I want to have their baby photo albums at the hospital to surprise them with and make them feel special!

For the see through black cabinet, have you thought of doing the window film? I got one that is opaque for my garden grow windows so the grow lights aren’t shining into the yard all night but I can keep my seedlings happy 😀

My oldest…only want pictures when we pass away…the other 3.. brothers & 1 sister want the things that have memories attached to them. So I have a running email to all 4… updating what will be sold …if they want it…call it now…and sometimes in their email , they barter back & forth …” I will give you this…if I can have that”. With cabinets with glass like that, we have put some lace material on the inside so you can still see the design but can't see what's in the cabinet. From the outside looks like it's made that way. Just an idea🥰
