Thank you, saved me £8 after my gym lock dropped on the floor and changed the code. I had to decode it to lock then decode to reopen it! Code now reset. It’s almost as if the sloppy build tolerance acts as a security feature.

Bough a four wheel code padlock the day before yesterday, and have been having a blast decoding it, resetting blindly, decoding, and repeat. I have, 3 or 4 times, locked it open, and managed to decode it in order to close it back up and keep playing. As of this moment it is sitting locked open again, and I hope this video helps me get out of this re-occuring situation. It just makes me realise that I have done it a bunch of times, but really do not know how. Thanks for the video! Will give feedback in the morning

Great job! It is definitely easier to learn if you know the combination as you can get a feel for what good and bad feels like. If you're struggling, it's likely that you're either pushing too hard or not hard enough (usually too hard), so experiment a bit and see if that helps.

23rd may 2024 and I was able to lock it! Thank you. Tip i used was i instead held the lock upside down with one hand, and i pressed the bottom of the lock down so the shakle was pressed on the table, then with the other hand i turned the keys.

My lock is open and stuck, but I cant spit it around to sit flush with the closing bit, as it isnt lifted high enough (if that makes sense?). How do i get the silver bit to actually lift fully up?

Hi Charlotte. Hard to tell without feeling the lock and experimenting a bit. Doesn't sound good though, possible the lock is broken. I would probably try pulling out on the shackle, i.e. Trying to get it more open and turning the wheels. Or push in and turn wheels. It might also be worth just turning the wheels with no load at all on the shackle and see if one of the wheels turns the shackle. This would be the one to work on to free the shackle up. Good luck!

Mine is open, but the shackle is in the down position and I can’t lift it to lick it. Do you have any advice for that at all.

I don't really understand. The shackle is in the locked position but down the side of the lock? Can you turn the wheels?

@@crispix it is in that down position where you can’t lift it to get it in position over the hole to the push it down and lock it. I have just bought it and was trying to set the number for the first time and something went wrong in the process. Also, it is not the same model you are referring to in the video, but I am thinking the principle is the same.

Yes, the wheels turn, but some get a bit stuck on the top row.

Wrong way round! You don't want stiff numbers, you want loose ones. If it feels stiff, move it on

Can’t line up the shackle as it’s blocked by whatever it’s called (where the shackle is supposed to go I to). So it’s up against that bit. Any hints on how to get that piece down in the lock?

There should be a little tab on the inside of the shackle and a matching slot in the top face of the lock for it to go down into (if it wasn't being stopped by one or more code wheels being out of position).

There’s a quicker way to resolve: - Move the bar to the side. - find the point where it pushes all the way down (hold in that position). - Enter your new pin.

@@hhhhhh3660 Lockwood make a wide range of generally nice locks. Most of them should just snap shut. If yours is locked in an open position then unlocking with the key should fix it

just did it took me a bit to realise the difference between the click of the lock setting vs just the wheel itseld spinning and making noises but as soon as i found out it took like 1 minute you have to hold the lock right up to your ear to hear it and yea its a pain in total it took no more than 20 mins to do

I'm reading the comments thinking NO WAY are these people being serious, but, after turning off the sound to the video, closing my eyes (insert dramatic tension), and slowly adding pressure whilst turning, I heard that magic click sound. My gym combination had managed to move on three of the four digits BUT, it's now fixed. Hot tip to everyone once they solve this. Ensure the padlock is locked in your bag to prevent resetting. Hi Olivia. Do I understand right - you've tried getting it closed but it still won't go all the way? In that case it is likely that one or more of the discs isn't set yet. Best thing is to keep at it, keep pushing in on the shackle and feeling for the binding disc. Anything that is hard to turn isn't set right. Really focus on what you're feeling. It is not easy!

Oh no! If you're struggling try changing the pressure you're putting on the shackle. It's tempting to try to push it shut but that definitely won't work, so usually a bit more gentle is the way.
