Yes! It worked amazing in about a minute. I realized I wasn’t putting enough tension on. Funny story, I tried all 10,000 possible combinations by going through them one by one but I must have missed it up somewhere. Thank you for this tutorial it worked great!

@@pentatopComment You're looking for the wheel of numbers with the most tension to start with, and then on that wheel, you're looking for the number that the mechanism turns through more easily than the others. Then find the next wheel with the most tension, and repeat. I had a couple of false starts, but once I found the right wheel to start on, the feeling through the shackle was very noticeable when I got to the correct number.

Great stuff, this allowed me to resuscitate some old lock I have for which I forgot the combination. The confusing part was that my lock allows me to "press" the dials, so I thought pressing them is required to open, but in reality it isn't, it works just like the lock in the video. I'm proud I managed to pick this simple lock.

Thanks for the info! I found a black 4 digit padlock exactly like the one you show in the video, it was open but wouldn't close without the correct combination, so I pressed the lock down to find the code and it also worked! It's now set to 0-0-0-0 and available in case I need it to lock something unsafely 🙂

Keeping tension on my shackle locks my dials and stops them from rotating. All the tension feels the same, and i know this because i know what the combination actually is, so i can directly compare the feel of the dials when its correct compared to when its incorrect.

Those are called False Gates, and is intended to stop this method of opening. Usually there is a very subtle difference between false and real gates.

Thank you, this was smooth :D I solved a problem with my new travel suitcase. A shop assistant gave me a 30% discount since she thought the lock malfunctioned. At that time, it didn't bother me because the zipper had loops for an optional padlock. Back home, I found an instruction leaflet in my new suitcase regarding a lock, and only then did I realize she hadn't read them at all.

The next wheel to turn should be the next binding one whichever that one is not necessary the next in line. Also locks like this have false gates which give the effect you have the right number just continue using the next binding technique and eventually you will have all wheels in the correct order. Mine definitely has false binding pins, because keeping tension on the shackle stops the dials from rotating at numbers I know to be incorrect.

I figured out easier method is to apply the pressure and see if the 2 bottom pins rotate freely. Then you know its the wrong number. As soon as the second pin gets "stuck" you know the forst number is correct. Then repeat for the second one.
