Having a full fledged high speed rail network will take a few decades to materialize. It is always said that the best businesses are those which solve problems of the masses.

But the real problem is aircraft fuel is derived from crude oil which is imported in India resulting in trade deficits for our country and a much bigger source of pollution than vehicles on road. What China did to avoid such capital drain is massive construction of bullet trains within a decade and it was very much successful.(Bullet trains runs on electricity and chinese are the leaders in renewable energy production)

This works in telecom sector where previous generation infrastructure becomes more or less useless and the new players don't have to bear that (like when JIO entered straight to 4G). However in airline you still own the aircraft or can lease. So zero loss doesnt make any difference to them its just a balance sheet thing. Ofcourse being debt free gives you a lot of flexibility but think about the tonn of experience Spicejet, Vistara etc have in terms of fleet management, flight safety and stuffs which Akasa doesnt have right now.

Good video in principle. But there is a flaw in argument. When Indigo leases the aircraft, the lesser will take into account all cost the airplane will incur (running cost, maintenance, depreciation), plus profit. So operating the airplane in a sale - lease back approach is always costlier than if you would be the owner. The advantage, as you rightly point out, is that the cost are to be covered by the generated incomes, thus affecting cash-flow. The other flaw in argument is that it increases the net profit. This is not always the case, as depreciation is always taken as an expense, reducing thus the gross profit before tax.

Great Video!! Very informative! Just wanted to correct one thing, Indigo doesn't get depreciation benefit under income tax. Under Income tax act it is the Lessor who always gets depreciation, not the lessee (Indigo) However, Indigo would still benefit under Income Tax due to its Lease Payments. Hence, Indigo would pay upfront Tax on gain from sale transaction ( 5 mil in this video). But enjoy Tax Deductions for future lease payments.

Good Video. The depreciation part though leading to saving taxes might have to be re looked. Depreciation as non cash expenditure helps in saving taxes. Anyway Indigo would still have another expenditure in place of Depreciation in the form of Lease Rentals (although a cash expenditure) to save on taxes.

Interesting video and informative but i still have questions: 1)You have mentioned ultra low carrier,bargaining power and so on but then admit that even indigo has a similar power. How will akasha air succed? What is USP of akasha air that no other airline/transportation has that can enable it to succed? The secondary airports,etc will benifit all airlines. 2) Ultra low pricing is not a viable stratergy (by itself), indigo has route optimization, hubs and more. Indigo only flies to certain locations where its profitable and its planes are almost always full.
