As a new Christian I read a lot of NT Wright and for ages thought the kingdom of heaven was meant to be a political and social act…it confused me for a long time but this makes much more sense. It is salvation from within from the heart first as opposed to out there in the world

Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world" meaning not of human methods, traditions or understanding but will only exist in the human heart when the human heart accepts the wholeness of the truth of God.

Beautiful. The Fathers in the Divine Office say that all prayer is allowed but none that fall outside the concepts of the Our Father. That means we have to really know the Our Father of course.

Wow-I so identified with your opening confession that you had often been "underwhelmed" by The Lord's Prayer--same here! You did a great service with this. I may pray it in the order you indicated at the end of the video from time to time. You have really done what you set out to do with this video--I had always taken the middle line to mean--"trust in me daily for your needs, take no thought for the morrow, store up not treasures on earth," like the Israelites in the desert who were only allowed to collect one day's manna in the desert, except on the day before the Sabbath, but your explanation of the "epiousia" adds so much to my understaiding. Thank you for all that you do--I always look forward to your videos. Here's a weird coincidence--for some reason lately, I keep thinking about St. Michael, many times a day. I am new to Catholicism, in RCIA classes right now and coming into the Church at Easter. I have no iconography at all on my walls yet, other than a straw crucifix from pre-conversion days. Last week, I ordered an icon of St. Micheal from Greece and have been praying the St. Michael prayer everyday since then.

This was extraordinary, but I take exception with the last part; namely we can never improve upon our Lord’s words; especially the order in which HE gives them. GOD’s wisdom provides order and hierarchy. We give praise first, then thanksgiving, followed lastly by petition. Think of the order GOD gave in HIS commandments; they are ordered from the Highest to the lowest. May the love of GOD be with you sir. Pax Christi

Wonderful video Dr Ashenden. The Lord's Prayer helped me become a Catholic. The daily bread is indeed Christ Himself, and so, despite what had been practiced hitherto, St Thomas Aquinas encouraged people to take eucharistic communion daily, as the Israelites had also, typologically speaking, received the manna daily whilst in the desert. It is a blessing that, in the 21st century, the practice of frequent communion has certainly become prevalent, albeit amongst a dwindling community in old Christendom.

Dia duit. Heard first on Journey Home. Wow. The veil got pulled back for you. BTW, my Diocese has allowed the St. Michael offered at Mass so not an issue here. I'm fine with the ordering of Our Father but did offer some illumination far as the temptation to be bitter whenever made to suffer. Frankly tend to then pray like Elijah laying down hoping to die but God is merciful and helps me keep repenting and this too shall pass. Peace.

Beautiful as usual Gavin. I prefer “Don’t put us to the test” instead of “Lead us not into temptation”. I also look at “Thy Kingdom Come” as the final kingdom at the end of the world. Give us this day our daily bread means to me Holy Communion at mass too. But I love your other interpretations. So keep going. Thanks.

The original Aramaic version says lead us away from temptation. Doesn’t it make sense? Which God will lead you into temptation. Wrong translation has totally destroyed Christianity. Unfortunately.

This is where recognising with crystal clarity, the difference between the philosophy of the three monkeys, and the philosophy of redemption, is so crucial. It is the weapon that is used as a wedge, that tears christianity asunder. They define the kingdom of heaven, to become the framework, for the kingdom of Earth. Sentinel until kingdom come. Genesis 3:23-24 Seraphim of the East The gateway to that kingdom, is by looking upon dawn, on the equinox, in the East. Looking to the west will reveal the throne of God, around the lunar eclipse, where the 13 phases of the sidereal year and 12 synodic moons become one. Hence the bread and the wine of the last supper. This double Rainbow in the West is a cone that points due East, and the azimuth of those cones upon the ground, will mark the pot of spiritual gold and silver at the end of the Rainbow. These pots are the sun and the moon on the winter solstice sunset and the summer soltice sunset. In the Image of God. kzbin.info/www/bejne/l6OYYYeiqJmeeNE

Well done. Recommend ‘The Sermon on the Mount” by Fox (1934) and “The Second Coming of Christ” by Yogananda. These works explain the “Lords’ Prayer” with great insight into its complete and true meaning. The Prayer is so perfect and complete in itself, as these authors explain, and you have “discovered” in its “symmetry,” reading their insights will further expand your own.

The Our Father expresses the nature of God as described by the Son and meant to inform and form us appropriately in the process. The point is the Father, the head of the Trinity. Here the Lord reveals the important nature of hierarchy as He also does constantly in the gospels. Thus, the church is made in the same image. It too has hierarchy and a father here on earth, the pope. This hierarchy can be found in marriage as well, and indeed as Jordan Peterson points out, hierarchy is found everywhere in nature. Even the woke, or as I call them, the woking-dead, have a hierarchy, a hellish one to be sure, but it is there nonetheless. Here is what I have learned. Give time to God the Father, make time for Him, He deserves it and Jesus points to Him. Sure, there's only the One God, but in 3 persons, most mysterious. If Jesus celebrated that unique relationship within the Godhead, so should we. To emulate Jesus IS to do the works of the Father. Hierarchy is a thing, everywhere it reflects the nature of God.

GAVIN: To have learned that you are descended from a privateer-pirate is heartening! However, fortunately, neither the Apostles', nor the Nicene, Creeds tell us to recite "I believe in the Evil One"; and not all Christians are embarrassed to claim that Jesus of Nazareth was a young Jew, and as human as you and me: including our tendency to put ourselves before others. He must have had the metaphysical 'mind-set' of a young Jew, with the Cosmos envisaged as a young Jew would have imagined it. Indeed, it is only through stressing his 'one-ness' with US, that what he went through before the Father raised him, makes sense, in all of its agony. Nevertheless, notwithstanding his 'context' within the Judaism of his day, surely the 'miracle' of that young man lay in the choices he made, and the incredible SCOPE and AUTHORITY with which he taught about the Father: a scope brilliantly encapsulated in his own prayer. This puts GOD's requirements at the heart of prayer: not our own. It is, truly, the only prayer a Christian need pray, in obedience to that young Rabbi, whom we love and adore. What a gift!

This is the ONE and ONLY prayer that I view as most important. We get confirmation from DJT and Melania Pray with this in front of all Nations on Earth. You are brilliant in seeing the chiasm, the sequences, the Pattern, the Structure of it. It is the fundamental mechanism of RELITY, an idea, Point a - point b ( consciousness travel through TIME weave REALITY). and reverse back to the ORIGIN of such Idea. The journey of GOD indeed. The Daily Bread is LIFE, the gift of LIFE in a day which is 12 hours, each with 60 min, total 720 minutes.( night is the shadow version of it, total 144, WE ARE, ALL/ONE) It is coincide with the Creation of TIME/LIFE in the beginning, with a YEAR being 12 months and each month with 6 male, 6 female, total 72 as Gods.( again, Male/Female, are one of both sides) The day in Cycle of Time also use the same repeat creational principal

The 7 Verses in Total is also significant as 7 is Christ, 8 Lushifar ( Christ Father/KNOWN, White, 9 Satan/UNKNOWN, Black, 10 God, 11.Truth 12.Sacred Geometry to next level). The Center point 4 is the Heart of Man where LIFE/TIME/Goddess/Spirit enter and resides/the KINGDOM), with 7 Level of frequencies collapsed into ONE in the Heart, the Spirit then is set Free to go beyond the confinement of TIME thus IMMORTALITY.

Hence Stonehenge Sarsen circle inner is a Hekatompedon with 100 feet diameter Romano-Egyptian, where the circumference at 25/8th Pi is 3600" Geodetic Greek. It is the Man in the Image of God 10:1 Fractal with the skull and pineal gland, which stores the primordial year as 360 days. Which is aligned to the winter solstice sunset, but was originally also aligned to the Major standstill of the Moon. Just as the recumbent circles in Scotland were aligned to Minor/Major standstill, and those of southern Ireland were aligned to the solstice. Seems strange that all that divides us from our proto christian ancestors is several 1000 years...with lots of propaganda, ignorance and hate thrown in.

No different to the Tartaria tablet really, with Chi-Rho written in the top left corner in archaic Etruscan/Hebrew. Nor the coptic 'fish' for 1/4th as a combination of the mouth hieroglyph supported by four pillars and the Hieratic X with the same value. Later to become the crossed circle of the 3/4th square defined by the path of light within the spherical raindrops of the Secondary Rainbow. 'In Hoc Signo Vinces.'
