If you wish to have the window look bigger (and brighter😉) you could put the rod holders a bit further away from the window itself and like someone else commented - also higher up. Then the curtains would frame the window but it would seem wider.

And put one or more of the curtain rings outside the holder. Helps keep the outside of the curtain in place when you close them.

If you hang the curtains all the way up to the ceiling will look better and since the wall is small, you could use one long rod, and cover the wall between the windows. Keep your little shelf there. Just suggestion. Looks cute now. ❤

Thank you for your suggestion! Originally I wanted to place the curtains higher on the wall but it totally slipped my mind when I started drilling 😂 -- maybe I'll rethink it down the road

I was going to suggest moving the rods up higher on each window to give the illusion of taller windows and higher ceilings.

Move the curtain rod up higher and it will make the space look bigger and lush. Also the white floating shelves, could you put those in the kitchen on the wall, this would give you more space for other items. I love the brick. When you order your rug, order a bigger one so that it really defines the space.

Yes, or position the floating shelves above one of the dining chairs beside the brick fireplace to balance both dining and living areas and to have added storage for your things like art, boxes, plants, candles, etc... Looks fabulous so far!❤

The new apartment is coming together nicely! I always wonder, are your apartments soundproofed? Because (no offense) the walls seem to be made out of cardboard, but here you are (and I've seen many others do it too, that's why I am wondering. No criticism, just curiousity) moving furniture around at midnight? I'm from the Netherlands and even though I live in a newer (1975) reasonably insulated building, we never, ever do these things after 10 pm. Nobody does (welllll, of course there are always exceptions). When you're renting it's even stated in your lease, but it's just common practice here. No loud noises before 07.00/07.30 am or after 10 pm. I know my downstairs neighbour has to get up early, he has to leave at 5 am to go to work, and is a light sleepr, so I try not to do those types of things after 7pm. But that's just me being traumatized by an (previous) upstairs neighbour, so I am now terrified to be the loud neighbour myself 😆 I wish I could though! I sometimes suffer from insomnia and I always get the urge to move around furniture when it's 02.30 am and I can't sleep! 😂 And, if I may, could I make a suggestion? I know you didn't ask for it, so sorry in advance! Please ignore if not wanted! If you want to make your windows seem as big as possible, you could hang the curtains a little bit higher and make the curtain rods a little wider than the windows. That way the windows seem bigger and you get the maximum amount of light. It tends to make the room feel more spacious as well. You could even do one long curtain rod over both windows! Have fun making this place even more amazing. Hope it feels like home soon!

Thank you for sharing! At the moment no one lives underneath me so that's why I felt it was okay to shift things around at midnight 😅 thank you for your suggestion, I think I may raise the curtain rod after sitting with it for a day! Perhaps in the next video

@@theregoesgail Haha, that's wonderful! An empty apartment below you is perfect when moving furniture. I once lived above the communal bike storage (it IS the Netherlands after all 😉) and I loved being able to stomp around and not feel guilty if I dropped my remote for the tenth time late at night! You can always change the curtains later if you want. The apartment looks great either way!

Oh my gosh if I would just make one big long comment, but I don’t do that because I think of things as I’m watching, and I’m also 52 years old, so I forget if I don’t say it 😂😂😂 Alexandra Gator, has a KZbin channel and she has done some amazing things with small bedrooms that include offices. She took one of the IKEA cubby shelves the big, tall ones and like kind of blocked it off on the bed so it made the bed feel separate from the rest of the room. Anyway, I just thought I’d tell you that. I’m just a girl from Idaho that happened upon your channel. Lol 😂

Hi Gail new subby here, I love what you have done so far it is a very nice app, I was thinking could you not get one of those fold down little tables for Kitchen where you have those shelves sitting and it could be a little breakfast area and then fold down when not in use. Also when you talk about getting your deposit back, did you have to pay the first year 1950 and the second year another 2000 ?? As that would be crazy to pay year after year.
