Your videos are so helpful! I'm a quilter too and haven't tapped into the full potential of this wonderful machine! Thank you for sharing!

Thanks, Anitra! Yes, this machine can sure do lots of things and I'm still discovering more of them as well. And then there are the attachments ... learning is always a good thing :)

I am mostly a quilter as well but I also like doing/using my decorative stitches. I have a Janome Skylie 9 And I don't think I will ever be able to master ALL the things it can do. I have been watching a lot of YT videos on different things to do with your sewing machines and it will take me a long time to see them all, if I do! As well as practicing what I see. When you go shopping for a new machine, you need to have a list of essentials that you need, as well as the stitches you want. I had a a very good machine, can't remember the name, but I traded it in because it didn't have a satin stitch heart nor a free arm. Not that I use the free arm a lot, but I want it when I need it! LOL I love the S9.

Thank you for that tutorial, that was very good. I was wondering why you don’t use your locking stitch, it should be the 2nd or 3rd button below your automatic cutter button, so much easier than what you’re having to do at the beginning and end. Question for you, I was wondering if I could use letters instead of the different pattern stitches, like using my g’child’s name like Shaden, or Tyler, etc. It would end up in a circle instead of decorative stitching. Do you think that is possible? Thanks so much for this wonderful tutorial. I’m going to order that attachment for sure. Can’t wait to use it.

Yes, you could do that as well - not sure why I didn't do that actually. As far as using a name, you could do that, the only issue is at the end as you may have only part of the name when you are joining it back up. You might want to do a trail circle to see how this would work. Perhaps you could start and end with a decorative stitch if you find that the name isn't ending properly. Thanks for watching!

Love your videos, but don't select a different stitch with your needle in the down position. A lot of times the needle will move positions for the new stitch and this could damage your lovely sewing machine.

Hi Judy: OMG this is such a good tip and I often forget this. You are absolutely right - you should always change your stitches with your needle up. One of my "blind spots", I must say :)
