One thing you might like to do is have a shufti at the hide with a UV-sensitive camera. Birds can see into the near UV spectrum (we can't) and if part of the hide looks wrong in the UV, they're going to spot that.

Great work. Love your vids. The shotcam views really help me understand where to put the gun as I really struggle with lead. I went crow shooting at the weekend and kept using those images in my head. I'm usually very average at best but had a great 3 hours and for 72 shots I got about 45 with a 20 bore. Just had the best time and you helped me do that. What would help is a rough idea sometimes of the distance when you take certain shots, if you can add it to your commentary. The GoPro always makes things look miles away! 👍😎

My buddy and I have been hunting crows in Pennsylvania for nearly 50 years, we use to average around 5 to 6 thousand a year. West Nile seemed to have thinned the heard, however; the crows are rebounding and recovering with natural immunity. We customized a trailer as a blind. we use to run and gun but to much posted land now.

Greetings from California! Can you use calls over there? I don't usually use electronic calls, but I made the most interesting discovery while pranking some crows that were stealing eggs. ( bicarb and vinegar filled eggs). We are in California... I played calls from East coast sub species on my phone and the local crows went berserk. They would show interest in samples from Northern California but the East coast recordings really set them off. Great content. I want a ghillie blind! Cheers!

The 410 is not a gauge. It's measurement is 410 thousandths of an inch making it a calibre. The gauge measurement is based on how many lead ball the size of the internal barrel dimension that is required to weigh one imperial pound. For example, a twelve gauge corresponds to twelve lead balls of the barrel size to one pound. The same goses for 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 and 20 gauges etc. The 410 is unique among guns, a handy size for pest control. Cheers

@fieldsportswithspeed7 ай бұрын
Yeah I have the same problem from time to time bud, even though i've cleaned the chamber really well. normally if I have shot the cartridge and the empty gets stuck, I close it, pull the trigger again and slowly pump back and it normally comes out. hope this makes sense

@@fieldsportswithspeed I have tried all ways but would not come out and only with the sub eley’s, I found out that on the odd cartridge where the metal casing is where the primer fits into was not evenly and the extractors on the gun did not have enough onto so could not pull them out but these was on the sub sonics a few years back as I not bought some for a while. @micheala40077 ай бұрын
Crows are agriculture pest , the majority of Britain’s farm land is for agriculture, many birds are classed as pest in the uk and are considered okay to control throughout the year either legally or on private land
@nor-fk6jd6 ай бұрын
@@micheala4007 A crow family can eat 40,000 grubs, caterpillars, armyworms and other insects in one nesting season. That's a lot of insects many gardeners and farmers consider pests. These good environmental citizens also transport and store seeds, thus contributing to forest renewal.
@micheala40076 ай бұрын
@@nor-fk6jd I couldn’t agree more however when there is a flock of numbers in the video then they just don’t stick to eating what you mentioned , they find food from elsewhere like farmers crops , instead of looking at topics with an emotional lens , maybe listen to the video and the context to why they are becoming a pest
@hetrodoxlysonov-wh9oo6 ай бұрын
@@nor-fk6jd We don't have armyworms in the UK?
@steamboatwillie73449 күн бұрын
They do eat plenty of grubs, but they're buggers for pecking the eyes out of young animals; lambs and calves etc. That's why when packhams brigade got a ban on bird shooting for a few months, the farms lost tens of thousands of pounds in blinded beasts, and the government rescinded the ban, and put them back on the list. They can also do basic counting. If three walk out to a hide, as long as one walks away, they're happy. If they all stay in the hide, they give it a wide berth! When we used to go crowing, we'd always take someone to walk away. Crows can fly upside down too! End of my blurb
