I'm not a Beginner, but I'm out of practice with some Basics. Working a pattern that decreases at beginning and end of row, had a bit of trouble; working a second piece from same pattern, had to unravel more work than I'd care to confess! Part of my problem seems to be the question of whether or not to crochet in that first stitch at Beginning of Row. Here, we skip that; a different channel uses that. Someone here commented the swatches were lopsided -- would that be from skipping that first stitch? The other channel did not make a swatch large enough to find out if theirs would be even or not. It's been difficult to find videos of Double Crochet Decrease at Beginning and End of Row, so there's not much fodder for comparison / consensus. Any input on the issue from anyone? With that possible exception, I did like the video, and appreciate the artistic thumb nails. Cheers!

I m doing a short sleeve, and the patteern says 1x7 stitches, 1x4...etc. What to do if I need to decrease 7 st at once...?

You need to check with the designer of the pattern firstly. However I would decrease evenly across a row by making double crochet 2 together across. But please check with the designer of the pattern Hope this helps

Your swatch is all lopsided. The beginning of the row decreases work well, but not so for the decreases at the end of the row.
