Greetings from Ethiopia 🇪🇹! I been wanting a video like this for a long time! Your exercises are so helpful because they’re so simple but very effective. I love your videos and channel. The other channels are so complicated. It’s so practical because I don’t need no fancy gadgets to do them. One request, I’m a piano player and a 6 month stroke survivor. Could you please do a video on how to strengthen the fingers, wrist and arm? Once again thank you so much. You and your videos have helped and still helping me towards recovery. GOD bless you 😇

Thank you for this video. Didn’t know what was going on with my left foot and big toe (constantly curling) after the stroke and it is very uncomfortable. It’s like it’s always at attention and hurts whether in shoes or not. I appreciate your time and will be doing these exercises.

In my case of hemorrhagic stroke my toes stopped curling after going to sciatica pt with manual therapy focused on hip leg and ankle. I was so surprised it just stayed open snd wasn’t curling up. The feeling it sends back to my brain is that it’s curled but when i look, it’s not. When it comes to curled fingers, manual therapy on the trapezius has helped a ton

Lifting upwards is a little tight. Curling isn't an issue.

Hi Elyse!! Great info!! Can we apply these exercises to ALS patients too? Thank you
@PostStrokeOrg Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! Absolutely! While there are different underlying things happening in the brain/body with stroke and ALS, ultimately these exercises come back to gaining or maintaining movement of specific muscles. So they can be used across a variety of different diagnoses. Hope you find them helpful ❤️

Well done. I didn't notice lack of my toe muscle function for 3 years after stroke. Initiated exercises by pressing down against a force then lifting. After 2 years of working on them daily (100+ up and down curls over a towel), I had full function of first two toes (big toe and next). Kept working them and got next 3 toes active. I am now a year past that and I am working on weight transfer to that foot and I can actually feel the outside of my foot when I do it correctly. Your video will help others realize the toes and feet importance.

How many repetitions are recommended for each of these exercises?
@PostStrokeOrg Жыл бұрын
I can't make specific recommendations because each person is so different. A general rule of thumb to maximize neuroplasticity is the more the better, as long as you don't feel discomfort or pain. Check with your doctor or therapist for more specific, individualized recommendations!

Clarification, pls: you said: ‘use the unaffected hand to gently push EACH of the toes’, but it seemed that ALL OF THEM were stretched at the same time,so it takes totally 10’ to 30’ for exercise1; toes extension stretch . Very much sorry for my Ignorance.

It’s not that simple
@PostStrokeOrg7 ай бұрын
You’re right. Stroke recovery and neurological recovery isn’t simple at all. I recognize that these exercises will likely not fix these issues 100%. My goal is to educate people on things they can do at home to help improve things even a bit. It’s always important to consult with your doctor or therapist on what’s most effective for your specific situation!
