Well I learned something new today I have never ever seen Or taught to put onion in beef soup actually in any Jamaican soup it’s always scallion but I’ll try next time 👍🏾. I’ve been Authentic Jamaican cooker but every day you learn something new . As my grandmother used to say if you have a flavour hand you don’t even have to use anything out of the bottles just fresh scallions pepper 🌶 onion 🧅 fresh thyme garlic salt black pepper other fresh herbs 👍🏾🙏🏾
@nram13 жыл бұрын
Well said. The less powder the better. I like how he cooks but he use too much powder. And most have the same ingredients including salt so the food end up with too much salt. And that Flavor-rice should never be used.

I cook Collard greens and I put a whole large yellow, large red and large white Onions and garlic in them that my wife says we are eating Onions and Collard greens! I put Onions and garlic in all my dishes except deserts! Jamaican food is really good because when we visit with my brother his wife is Jamaican and she makes us feel at home when we sit down at their table for meals Jamaican style! She brings it here to us here in the Southern U.S! To Deddy and your Queen she knows those secrets tooo when it comes to Jamaican food!

we call those mirlitons in New Orleans and we eat them mostly as a dressing or stuffed with seafood on Thanksgiving and Christmas. For a regular dinner it's cooked down with smoke sausage and shrimp. Sometimes you'll hear older people call them cayotes or alligator pears.

Just recommended the channel to someone in Chicago today, I was telling him about how Jamaicans go crazy with different types of soups. I get Choco here in Illinois mostly from the latina stores, they call it coyote, I also get coco which I think they call yautia, if my memory serves me right. They also have something like badu called malanga and another ground provision called taro root, I use them with the Ghana yam for my soups when I can't afford yella yam 🍲😊

Making beef soup today - can’t wait!!! I blend pumpkin, scallions, thyme, 2 packs of soup mix, carrots, turnip and swede to thicken de soup as that’s my preference - I have to add corn on the cob and okra wid the food, then towards de end me add 2 more packs of soup mix along with more herbs and garlic butter (about 15 mins before I turn off the pot).I make the pot rest then serve (no talking for me)! It takes me 5hrs to make soup as it takes time to build de pot. This is why I love how Deddy cooks ca him build him tek him time and build him pot 👌🏿🔥👍🏾🙌🏾✊🏾

Cho-cho has so many names that the comments can't hold them, Lol! 😂🤣 Chayote (Sechium edula) was first cultivated in the MesoAmericas in Mexico and the Honduras on to Guatemala then spread abroad during the Colombian Exchange.
