The difference between Denzel acting in Training Day and being a separate person in real life is that people are aware Training Day is fictional. He's an actor playing a fictional character in a movie usually written by another person. Most of these artists (like the ones Dee-1 is talking about) go out of their way to tell/show us that the image we're seeing of them is REAL and NOT an act, so it's hard to argue that it's not glorification at that point. The only time we hear them say they're just "telling a story" or "painting a picture" is when the feds come knocking.

This was great conversation. I love how it was had respectfully by all parties. I agree 1000% with Dee-1 as a Christian, a Black person, and just a sensible human being. Too many of our people have died prematurely and unnecessarily because they’ve made hip hop their lifestyle and their culture.
