The difference between Denzel acting in Training Day and being a separate person in real life is that people are aware Training Day is fictional. He's an actor playing a fictional character in a movie usually written by another person. Most of these artists (like the ones Dee-1 is talking about) go out of their way to tell/show us that the image we're seeing of them is REAL and NOT an act, so it's hard to argue that it's not glorification at that point. The only time we hear them say they're just "telling a story" or "painting a picture" is when the feds come knocking.

None of them can... When they start talking bout "the music is art" and comparing the music to actors and movies... That's when you know it's all Cap! These "rappers" sold the community (Babies, decent Mothers and Fathers) out for money... Period.

I appreciate this respectful dialog between two brothers. When the doctor gives a diagnosis, we listen. The healing process hurts sometimes. The original WAY Dee-1 challenged Ross, Meek and Jim was very respectful. Now, Turk is right when he said people are at different stages of spiritual growth. Many of these artists might me 45 years old, but they act 25. They are still immature. Also, bruh said “that’s what the people want”. What if your kids want candy all day? Feeding them junk will make them sick.

Great point. Hence the drugs and other diversions

Yes, people are at different stages of growth so its people like Dee 1 that help educate them also.. he is not judging them, but speaking up like this is what transforms the minds and hearts. The audience they are targeting as Turk says may hear this and be educated to grow also. We are all on our journey and having someone like Dee 1 can make all the difference in our growth and the path we take. Our past, or our "growth level" can be used as a crutch or an excuse also..ultimately people who want to do and be better will, and those who want to do and be in the role of negativity and evil into the community to get the bag will do that also.

Turk’s response to Dee-1’s way of stating his opinion on the Ross, Meek, & Jim Jones was on point because Turk explains how (even w/ his some of the ppl in this comment section are responding) ppl can view what Dee-1 said as being judgmental because spirituality they can’t see or understand what’s Dee-1’s purpose of carrying on like this. Too many of our people have died prematurely and unnecessarily because they’ve made hip hop their lifestyle and their culture. As Dee-1 said, how you boasting about giving out turkeys and bicycles to the same community that you’re serving poison due to your lyrical content? It don’t make sense, but they’re too caught up in the cents that it makes them. Selfish. Keep speaking Truth and drawing the line, Dee-1. May God bless you for continually taking a stand!

Not too many rappers want accountability. Many talk about keeping it 💯. They know damn well the violence is bragged about. You see the youth acting out the killings. Hyped up on the music all over social media. Meanwhile, the rappers live tucked away in gated communities where they suddenly have integrity on display in their new neighborhoods.
