I wish soap writers of today would watch classic ATWT & Guiding Light. They may learn how to make soap operas watchable again. I have gone back and watched classic episodes of these soaps and the dialogue and storytelling is WONDERFUL. And they really new how to have a TRUE villain. Roger Thorpe and James Steinbeck were fabulous villains who you couldn’t stop watching!!!

The good old days! Where there was regular people playing soap characters!

Back then most of the characters were normal and well adjusted and there were only a few characters with psychological issues. And these few characters caused problems for all the other normal well adjusted characters. Now it is different on the soaps. Practically all the characters have psychological issues and life is total chaos for all the characters.

Grant with Lisa was a favorite of mine. Plus Kim being friends with Betsy while secretly loving Dan. When she had amnesia and John used their marriage to make Andy and keep Dan and Kim apart. This show was great at one time. Do you have any shows at that time. I also loved when John Reilly played Dan Stewart for a while.

I don't know how many Dee's and Annie's this show had but these 2 were wonderful -- and they both had great story during this time, and they had a wonderful relationship. Never saw Judy Ridley (Annie) anywhere ever again. Jacqueline (Dee) popped up on SFT (NBC) in its last years but I no longer watched when it moved to NBC. Don't remember Doug.

Julie Ridley was my favorite Annie. I dont know why she left As The World Turns. But after As The World Turns I saw her on a very short lived Christian Soap Opera called Another Life. It was a really low budget show.

I wonder why Jacqeline Shultz left the show in 1982. I think she married Larry Bryggman in 1982. Maybe that is why she left the show. But just a her story was coming to a climax with the John Dixon "murder" trial Dee was replaced with Vicky Dawson. I dont understand why Jackie Schutz left right when the climax was about to happen. She should have stayed on 6 months longer.

@@baf236, yesss! No one remembers Another Life when I mention it. It was so ridiculous, but I got hooked. And those great classic sitcoms came on afterward. I was a kid with insomnia and would watch all night. Lol!

@@Mary-jv2kc I watched Another Life just because of Julie Ridley. I missed her so much on ATWT. Then ATWT replaced her with Mary Lynn Blanks. Anyway Julie Ridley was a very good actress.

@@Mary-jv2kc I just checked it out on the internet. I think I might be wrong. I watched both Another Life and another low budget soap called The Catlins. According to the internet Julie Ridley was on The Catlins but she is not mentioned on Another Life. Anyway I watched both.

7 years later, around the time of ATWT's 30th anniversary, Betsy tells Kim how lucky she was to have her and her grandparents during her formative years, unlike her half-sister Emily, who only had Susan.

Hester is getting more and more unhinged in each of these episodes.

Poor Hester is losing it. The scene of her in the dress was a genuine shock. We have few of those now. I feel a little sorry for Marcia. She's so needy and tries so hard to cover it up with indifference. Surprised to see Sheila and Jeff interacting. Foxy suit on Jeff. I bet it was hot though.

So Ruth, Lisa and Hester(!) all have the same dress size?

Its funny that Kim is so sure Betsy didn't drink because she believes her word, and yet the kid had already been lying about the party.
