Actress Ariane Munker was great as Melinda Gray, Barbara's sister, on As The World Turns! She also played Marianne Randolph on Another World and Amanda on Ryan's Hope! I wish this beautiful woman and great actress were back on daytime TV!

Thank you for continuing to post these episodes! I had always wanted to see the early Barbara stories , and can't wait for James to start appearing. Any of these episodes with the Dobsons is way better than anything I saw of ATWT in the last 10 years , this is just fantastic! I also think it will help future soap writers to see these. It will help influence someone, hopefully, to create another old-style soap with slower plotting and richer characterizations.

Oh wow! I can't believe someone feels the same way I do about the last 10 years of this mighty soap. I started watching in 1978 out of no where, and followed basically EVERY WORD till around some time in 1999 when the show completely fell apart. Just about everything that kept me glued to the screen was either gotten rid of or pushed to the back burner. It simply hurt too much to try to watch it. It was so boring..... I STILL miss this show when it was "must see TV".

Good old John always in the heart of trouble. John to the rescue. Grant Coleman . I absolutely loved him with LISA. But they never let them be together very long. I still have the same phone Dee is talking on. Peter Simon, before or after G L. His wife became a writers for all the soaps. Courtney Simon.I had almost forgotten a lot of these characters. thanks this brings back a lot of memories,

I love all of this, but it was especially fun to see Ellen talking to Bob in his office. All the Ellen scenes I see on here, she is talking to David, or Annie or Dee, or Kim--always worried or concerned, etc. It was nice to see her talk to Bob and remember that Ellen is supposed to be like Bob's older sister, best friends with his sister Penny (although I think Pat Bruder and Don Hastings are the same age).

I enjoy watching these episodes from 1980--if only there were more. The last Christmas open house at Chris and Nancy's was especially memorable to me because while everyone was seeing carols, Joyce showed off her engagement ring from Grant and Lisa's fury was evident even as she kept singing! It was a shame that the Dobsons took away the Hugheses' living room and eventually even Nancy's kitchen.

Sorry you get your story wrong the Dobson did not did that it was Mary Ellis behind producer at that time she wanted younger viewers to watch because as the world turns rating have drop from numbers 1 to number 6

I would love to see the 2/1/80 and 2/4/80 episodes since they focus on Ian's death and the entrance of James Stenbeck, which hooked viewers into tuning in to the show in its 2-3pm timeslot, just as Guiding Light hooked viewers into tuning in its new time slot of 3-4pm with the Roger/Rita/Hall of Mirrors storyline.

Barbara explains to Tom why she gave Paul to Claudia and his birth is shown in a flashback. Dee and Ian go nightclubbing in Europe. Ellen talks with Bob about selling her property to Brad Hollister. Melinda faints while dancing with Nick and Dr. Bob makes a house call plus much more from the land of Oakdale, Illinois in 1980.

Peter Simon has been for 10 years in Search for Tomorrow and After for 10 episodes in As The Word Turns. And his final role has been in GL as Ed Bauer.

I think Frannie was younger than Betsy. I think a few years later, when Bob married Miranda, they showed Frannie as a tween or very young teenager--and Betsy was an adult by then. I think Frannie was just one of the unseen children, like Andy Dixon was for years, always in the next room or upstairs, referred to, but very rarely seen. (And Bob and Frannie lived with Chris and Nancy, I believe, so Nancy would have been the caregiver.)

Nick to the rescue again (ugh) and the ever boring Barbara storyline. However I like seeing the budding romance between Dee and Ian even though it is going to end in heartbreak for her unfortunately. The Dobson's are really pushing Chris and Nancy into a corner with hardly any screen time or storyline.

Chris and Nancy do get decreased screen time with the Dobsons,and we mainly see them out and about. I don't think we ever see their living room set again. Only their kitchen or backyard.
