I am, in NO WAY, seeking to "flout"/"deny" what you say here, while that IS true, you, also, need to look at the "music world"/world of touring (modern day), more universally (and with the consideration of what has changed -TERRIBLY!!- and become "standard" for the industry and artists (from a variable, but generally definable) time-period). A large number of the "bands" who still tour (and, because: "hard copy"/album and the sales no longer exist. Mechanicals have been disgustingly reduced. Even songwriting royalties are down and not only are the percentages possible to EARN, down; the OPPORTUNITIES (to make the music EARN from those, AT ALL!) are down. ...So: there IS NO steady, recurring income, really for artists (individually or collectively). Because of cabals like "livenation"🙄🤦🖕🖕, ticket prices have, illegally, soared and merchandise sales (Shirts, caps & whatever else) have, also, gone through the roof AND: THE ARTISTS a) Cannot, legitimately, control the prices and b) Receive a MUCH SMALLER percentage of the profits, at venues (as a punk band: you could sell a couple of $3-5 shirts or tapes at a show & make: gas money & maybe a few burgers or sandwiches, to get to the NEXT NIGHT, at a show (yes: the value of money, as well as prices, were "different" in the times I am talking about. That doesn't make a difference. The point is: IT WAS POSSIBLE! NOW??: It no longer is (or: rarely! if ever!!)-)-) ...sorry, my "point," actually was: That: A LARGE NUMBER of bands, still, out there, these days, ARE "SELF-COVER" artists! They have replaced dead, retired or ostracized members with new members! ("The Stanley/Simmons 'Kiss" protocol," I guess: ' Plug in whoever. ' 🙄🙄). Sure: it may not result in "a terrible show " ...but: it doesn't count as/can't be considered the original band. - Even if EVERY PERSON CURRENTLY INVOLVED with it SAYS/CLAIMS that: "Yes. It is." 🙄🙄🤦 No. No, it ISN'T and never WILL or CAN be! Quit LYING to yourself and (MUCH MORE OFFENSIVELY!!) to ME! -All I was, really, explaining is that: MOST bands doing the summer tours (often: summer "bulk" tours), since -🤷🤷🤷 really, for the past 30-ish years (DEFINITELY: the last 15, or so!!): ALL of them are "cover band versions" of the bands whose names they tour under! ...and they will never call it that, or care! -But as an audience member??: YOU *should* know (and accept) that! (...if you're planning to take part in such events)! ...a few bands from the '60s-'70s-'80s are, still, making viable new music and have reconstituted their line-ups (in a respectable, valid way) ...but: those are in the "rarity" column.

I watched Mick Mars interview with Eddie Trunk and I ask my doctor to test me for HLA she called me up one day later and said how did you know and I told her you are not going to believe this. This ailment is so much worse then chronic back pain. It affects your stomach your spine pushes out against your rib cage. Mick probably my favorite Rock guitar player. At least the most underrated. Much love to Mick and all the other fans

I've always been a fan of Mick Mars since i was 10 years old when i discovered Motley Crue in 1983, I loved Vince and Mick right away, Mick was the dark one in the band for me and i loved it, i was diagnosed at 27 years old but i was in pain since i was 18 and i'm 50 now, to me Mick is a role model for what he did despite the AS, it's when i was diagnosed that i learned that Mick Mars had the same thing, a rockstar i could relate to and it inspired me. You guys have no idea how much it hurts at times, i was declared invalid officially 5 years ago, it's shitty to be in pain all the time and living in poverty, what helps me is that i'm a painting artist and put everything i have into my art to make it. It's all i have left.

Mick is awesome and one of my biggest influences on my playing but he’s hardly underrated or anything great as a player. What he did was perfect with Crüe and what he does he does great but he is a run of the mill blues pentatonic player, it’s all very simple guitar work, not underrated in the least.

You know I'm in my 60's and before all this drama for the umpteenth time in Motley Crue.....when I was a young headbanger, now I'm an old headbanger, I always said, thought that only talent in that band was Mick and Tommy and I am not a Crue fan but I will say that when Neil left and they enlisted John Corabi that is the line up that they should have stuck with instead of caving to the Neil fans. That album "Motley Crue" could have been a game changer and really showcased the real talent in that band..."Hooligans Holiday" is a great song

@DesertRockfall
@DesertRockfall 9 ай бұрын
His tone was very unique. It was their trademark, not Neal's weak strained vocals. It started with that old beat-up strat of his, nothing fancy-assed with big time endorsement deals. He was the major noise maker in that band, and they would never gotten anywhere without him. I've always thought that Mick deserved a better band than what he got, especially now with all the current drama he's having with his former bandmates that he carried for years.

Yep, saw Motley in 1982 and was blown away by Micks live tone, super clear and awesome distortion. There was what looked a rack 31 band eq boosting specific frequencies. I bought one and oh yeah, the door to tone was born. Over the next few years all those great guitar tones were born, using eq, graphics and parametrics, to pre boost the front of the amp. I'm not sure if Mick started that but he was the 1st player I saw with great live tone, prior to Metallica & Stryper who came afterwards using EQ, raising the bar for 80s tone.

It's better and more original than anything Dokken has ever put out. Dokken is very generic in his songwriting and the rhythm guitar on his classics are most often just plain boring 8th note chugchug. He just makes himself a fool by crapping on Rocka Rolla. Rocka Rolla was just different and with a lot of mellow parts, but it was quite experimental music. The first track is in 5/4 - has Dokken ever done anything that isn't 4/4? Run of the mill is one of the greatest tracks JP ever did and there were other good ones too on it. "That album is crap, don't buy it" -Don Dokken No Don, it's just you who are limited in so many ways.

the Motley Crue name-change story is only partly true. It had been the original name of Whitehorse, Mick's band before Vendetta, and I don't doubt he may have reused it again at one point, but the formation of THE motley crue happened when he was already jamming with Vince, Nikki, and Tommy. They were not an evolution of Vendetta.

Mick was, for me, the biggest part of why the Crue sounded so good. His guitar was hugely important to their overall sound. Without Mick, I don't really care. It's not the Crue w/o Mick.

The lure of more money, makes some people that were once brothers treat each other like dirt… the way they did Mick Mars it’s terrible I would’ve never thought they would’ve done that to Mic… I’m not gonna pay to go see him anymore that’s for sure

I consider Mick to be a lot like Keith Richards in that, he’s not a freakish technical player……But he has that rare gift of consistently creating the most amazing riffs. You can call me ‘wrong’ all you want, but that’s how I feel. With that said, my opinion of the rest of Motley came crashing down after I read The Heroin Diaries. What I took from it was just how conceited that Nikki sounded. After that, the more I saw/heard/read about Motley, the worse my opinion of them became. I haven’t listened to a single Motley song in a LONG time….l’m gonna guess at least 10 years. To this day, I can no longer stand the sound of Vince’s voice.

Most underrated down stroke player. Simple catchy riffs. Amazing solo on home sweet home. Nikki wrote the tunes but without mick there would be no hooks. Love his style.

Nikki might of had a small .. idea . But it certainly wasn't what Mick was playing on the albums . Nikki didn't have the sense of rhythm at the time , to play the riffs like Mick was playing . If Mick had to greatly modify any idea Nikki showed him , than it wasn't really Nikki writing the tunes .

Nikki has said he doesn't know much about chords, etc so the assumption must be that Mick brought all the flavor and musical color thu his use of inverted chords, heavy chug riffing, tasty solos, etc. Having a hard pounding drummer in Lee..... essentially, the sound of Motley.

HUGE misconception about Nancy Suxx: He was practically the sole LYRIC writer. There is almost always 1 most of the time 2 (Lee and Mars) who are given credit for writing the music
@mattrock12

@@Reverendldthe first two albums (TFFL and SATD) have Sixx listed as sole writer (lyrics and music) for the most part. (IMO, i believe Sixx has always taken way more songwriting credit than deserved and Mars (and producers, etc) given much less credit than deserved. Sixx may have brought the bare bones of the song, but they would likely never be what they became, fully fleshed songs, guitar hooks, etc by the time they were pressed to vinyl, without much help from others. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%C3%B6tley_Cr%C3%BCe_discography

There’s a reason Sixx got Mars’ portrait tattooed on his thigh. He owes everything to that man. Yet here he is, sticking it to him in the end. Really living up to his ungrateful ***hole reputation.

I HATE Sixx, Neil & Lee. Despise them. MC were playing 1000 seaters with no audiences before KISS took them out in 2014 in front of big crowds again. Restored their careers for retirement. How does Nikki thank Gene? Publicly talks badly about him. How does Nikki thank the sound of MC, Mick Mars? Kicks him out & publicly talks badly about him, all to get his buddy John 5 in the band. Notice a trend? All power to Mick Mars, the best of the best. Glad you won in court, Mick. Loving these interviews with Don.

Nikki Sixx, an avg to below avg Bassist claiming he wrote the songs? Maybe the crappy lyrics but when I listen to a rue, it’s for those tasty riffs and intros on rythym guitar and Nikki has Absolutely Nothing to do with that! Oh it’s true, it’s true!

Love Dokkens solo album in the early 90s. When it came out I was sad to here the group broke up,but at the same time I was happy Don made it on his own. Lynch had a great group to ,don't know why he didn't go far. I do agree with Don though, Nick is underrated. I also see a lot of people agree that Mick got a raw deal from the breakup. Mick put a lot of time and effort into the group's rise to fame, his fellow band mates should have stuck up for him.
