I met him in 2004 in Valdosta, GA. His band was playing a free concert in the parking lot of a bookstore for a 4th of July celebration. Across the parking lot was a regional wrestling show. I was with the wrestlers since I knew them personally. Later that night at the bar, Dee stops by our table and wanted to tell the guys they put on a hell of a show and that he’d watch when he could from the stage. He asked me if I wrestled and I told him that I was in the Air Force. He shook my hand and bought us a pitcher of beer. He’s a very down to earth guy. Very cool dude!

But we all secretly loved TS... and KISS actually. But you know, when your a teenager you gotta pretend to only be into the hard stuff. Image and all that. And by the time the 90s came around, it became more about the flannelette and black jeans, and as the joke amongst my scummy friends went, girls getting confused and thinking us metalheads had feelings (Can thank Kurt for that lol).

And how his wife said "You're a classically trained counter-tenor" to convince him to write and sing a Christmas song for her. And knowing that Celine Dion sang that song and sold 14 million copies of the album it was on? Awesome. I doubt it would ever happen, but it would just be too cool if Dee and Celine would do a version of that song together as a duet. Don't scoff. David Bowie once did a very beautiful duet with Bing Crosby. Anything is possible.

In grade 3 in the mid 80's, Air Bands were a thing in our school. A few buddies and I did two songs from The Stay Hungry Album. The teachers weren't smart enough I guess to do a little research into the content of the songs. While all the other kids were playing Kenny Rogers songs, we came out to "I wanna Rock" and Burn in Hell. Needless to say, the total shock and awe was brutal, no more class Air Bands. Years later, Dee Snider was a guest DJ at a Bar in my city and I remember him bringing the house down. A total professional and entertainer. I'm glad he has had so much success!

That's great the interviewer is wearing an Overkill shirt. a few years back I was thinking that if a band were to mix Overkill with TS that would be the perfect concoction for a new metal band.

You are correct, sir. You Mr. Dee Snider are an icon. We're not gonna take if people think otherwise.

We’re Not Gonna Take It was an insanely important anthem of my youth as a teen in the 80’s. I remember when it came out, and I remember when DS spoke to Congress which earned even more of my respect. I have always loved Dee & Twisted Sister.
