It's most interesting that many cultures have a similar instrument - I have tiny jaws harps from both Africa and Australasia.

Your an amazing musical talent, with such passion about the history of ethnically/ tribal instruments that otherwise would be lost in time. Not only that but you play them well. Have a merry Christmas from Derby UK.

Love it! I have collected Percussion instruments from around the world for my students to play since about 2001. Have been at my school in Oklahoma for 24 years. Have created instrumental units using Dr. Wil Schmidt's World Music Drumming & Artie Almeida ideas. Enjoy teaching 4-Hole & 12-Hole Ocarina and Soprano Recorder for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. For strings Ukulele & Intro to Guitar. We also use Quaver Music Ed online in Moore Schools....my Alma mater!❤

I can just imagine the Indians sitting around the bonfire. Someone playing this instrument and the others maybe chanting or dancing. Not that I know, I'm Australian but I can imagine right?
@deedeetibbits8 ай бұрын
That made me laugh imagining all of that!! I’m hoping to get a didgeridoo some day! Do you play one?
@SuzanneStutzle8 ай бұрын
@@deedeetibbits No, sadly, I don't play any instruments. I learnt piano for one year 44 years ago then life got in the way. I got married, fell pregnant, and moved into our house. I never did own a piano and every day I would go to my grandmothers to practice but after I stopped work to have the baby all my enjoyment of playing the piano stopped. I have heard the didgeridoo is quite difficult to play. It's something to do with the breathing. My daughter gave it a go and surprised everyone, including herself that she had the knack. I wouldn't be surprised if you have that knack too.

It’s only in the overtones. The main note is the same throughout, but she’s manipulating the overtones into a facsimile of the melody of God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman. It’s a different interpretation for sure, but it’s recognizable.
