Makes me remember the times I’d rush back from school, jump on my kit warm up with a few covers, do a bit of my grading practice and rudiment practice, then back to covers again. I'm late to the party but I usually prefer that musicians preserve the integrity of the original track in respect to the rightful creators when doing these "cover videos". But I must say that cobus has injected the right amount of his originality without destroying the song. Truly enjoyed this. Amazing work.

One thing u should never do is compare urself to other drummers. You're u. Be u. Do what u can do. I used to have to practice 6-8 hrs a day during the summer off school to learn & condition my legs for double -bass. I started playing when I was 10yrs old. Im 51yrs old now. Ive been a professional drummer for 27yrs. from 1986-2013. I still play at a professional level but mu age is a factor now. I still wont compare myself to anothet drummer. Imagine if I compared myself to Bonham. I wouldnt just quit , Id go hang myself. U see whst I mean.

Beautiful, man. Another awesome cover/remix. 😊👍🏻👍🏻It's because of your original cover video all those years ago that I discovered the badass music of Breaking Benjamin. Since then, I've become such a massive fan of yours and theirs. I've been blessed to see Breaking Benjamin in concert twice and got to meet them and get pictures with them at both concerts. The first concert I saw them at was in 2016 in Albuquerque, NM, in which we got to go side stage to watch their first 3 songs! It was mind blowingly incredible. Aaron, the bassist, walked right up to us and played for us. It was surreal! They're such incredibly humble and down to earth guys. The second concert was at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver, CO, where we also got to do the meet and greet before the show with Red, whom we also got to see do their sound check. Thank you, Cobus. Truly. Thank you for your amazing videos all these years. I've learned so much from you, both technically and musically, and my life has been changed for the better because of you. God bless you Cobus. Well done man. ✝👍🏻 As you say, Laus Deo Semper.

It's called the "slide" technique. It's an alternative to the "heel-toe" technique (something he also uses, most notably in the Almost Easy cover) It's not unique to him, but he does have a really good technique. He's definitely practiced it a lot. It's something most drummers should know, but for some reason don't.
@lifeofapotato45955 жыл бұрын
@@RockBandRS He has been using both slide and heeltoe tech, butback when he was just covering songs in the church with church's drumkit and tapped camera mostly with single cuz single pedal, ah those old days. He uses the heeltoe mostly for double strokes with the double pedals notes like you said in Almost Easy or the old one, his cover of Kesha's TikTok.The slide tech only for an accent with single pedal.

This song is so special for me..!!! Cobus was the first drummer whom I have watched online. This was an incident which took place 10 years back. Im from India and back in those days(10 years back.) I never had a mobile phone, internet, computer gadgets etc. In order to access internet we had to visit local internet shops where they charge 10 Rupees for 1 hour additional 5 rupees for headphones. Due to poor connectivity it used to take 2 hours for me to finish a single drum cover. And i remember stealing money just to go to the shop & watch Cobus's videos. 10 years down the line we have got everything within a fraction of seconds. Thank you Cobus for everything that you have done. I pray that you would be a blessing to lot more people out there :)

This was the video that made me sub all those years ago. I think I've had 3 or 4 accounts over the years, but they all had one thing in common: subscribed to Cobus. I started playing drums at six years old, five if you count the make-shift drums I made out of pots and buckets (apologies to my parents for all those long, ear-bleeding hours), but unfortunately had to sell my drums after high school to take care of medical bills and such, but I've never lost my love and passion for drumming. It's crazy that after all this time, you still make videos when many Tubers from those days have long-since moved on. Thank you for all the years of amazing music, the bands you've introduced me to (I wouldn't have found my love for Angels & Airwaves without you), and for allowing me to live vicariously through you and air drum like an idiot at my desk. Many, many times. Cheers to years more!
