Its unfortunate you can't jump on one of the KTM enduro 2-Strokes to see how that works on the trails and hills as opposed to the 4-Stroke. When you see Erzberg and hard enduro, 90% of the guys are on the big bore 2-Stroke with the big flywheel that REALLY makes them torque monsters! That would be fun to see you try one.

100%, if you're going to take a race bike and do some trails maybe Brian is right, but a purpose built offroader 2strokes are far more technical.

can confirm, even on my 98 kx 250, idle rpm wheelies in all gears with no clutch!! Been riding 2 strokes for over 20 years consistently and by far my favorite mod ever. flywheel weights work

The 250x is really good in the woods and hard enduro. Really need Yamaha to add the electric start and a 300 option. It would be right there with the European enduro bikes. The KYB suspension is so much better than the WP.

No chance brother. I’ve been riding all my life, grew up on 2 bangers, still got a custom 2 stroke 250. They’re weapons, & they’re a blast to ride. But let’s be real here, you’re just the better rider. A 450 will mono past the 2 banger in 3rd. It sounds like you’re a 2 stroke fan, SO AM I, but I can’t lie, even though my heart will always favour the 2 banger. But yeah, little to no chance that the 250 2 banger will beat a healthy 450, ZERO CHANCE.

I’ve been lucky, I can count my lucky stars ⭐️. A lot of my mates used to race, one of em was the OZ 125 champ when he was a kid. Heaps of injuries, broken back twice ( didn’t sever his spinal cord luckily ), a leg break, 2 arm breaks, & heaps of other stuff I’ve forgotten about. He’s probably just turned 40, he’s ok I guess, but a lot of meds, growth hormone to help repair injuries. Yeah, your son dodged a bullet, he’s not dumb like us 👍.

Always use a torq on fork tubes otherwise you can over tighten and cause binding on the inner tube.

250 2-t 50nm and a 250 4-t 30nm~ Not more torque but alot broader spread for sure :) The short powerband compared to 4-strokes is hard to manage. I wonder would it work if someone tamed a 250 to yamaha dt125 powerband style with 40hp flat curve and alot of over rev if it would beat alot of 250f's 🤫

No. When you make the power curve wider in the rpm range, peak power goes down. That is the only advantage a modern 4-stroke has. Everything else about has hurt the sport, and the EPA dictatorship that forced the 4-strokes on the industry does not care.

I’d like to see the 2 bikes compared on a dyno. How would an equal displacement 4 stroke be faster? Is it more torque from the extra moving parts? Or does the fuels injection make that big of a difference?

I’m one of those guys that haven’t ridden off-road since the early 90’s my last MX race was about 1985 and then last year on a whim I raced 2 moto’s I borrow a bike, I finished both motors dead last, but was smiling from ear to ear. Last month I bought 2001 RM 250 and have been going to our local MX park and practicing. The really cool part is I’m out there with my son and my two granddaughters so there’s three generations out there enjoying life on a bike!!! In December I’ll turn 64.

Nothing but love for two-strokes. I grew up riding two-stroke dirt bikes & sport quads and they've always been my default preference. Yamaha 250f is a great bike off the skid and will last a while and you can throw some upgrades in it if more power wanted

I'm to busy to race buddy plus I'm 40 this years aswell lol I jst enjoy practice day's but I always push to get better, they say its easier to start of on a 4 stroke but if you wanna be a decent rider start on a 2 stroke, 250 2 Stoke will be two much power to start off with although I now people have started off on them, 125 obviously has less power but are equally as nuts in the band, people that ride 250 4 strokes at the track I go to won't have a go on my 125 because they now there nuts, its jst a case of changing gear more than a 4 Stoke and when you start getting abit tired stop for a break as you'll end up looping out, the pussy way is straight to the 250 4 stroke the proper way 125cc then move up if you want to race or your lazy lol 👍

I'm 33 and haven't ridden since I was probably 12-13. I'm gonna go with 250 2 stroke. I just know how it goes. If I got a 125 I'd want more in a month or 2 lol 4 stroke probably is the better choice but I love 2 strokes. It's what I had as a kid.
