Amazing tactical awareness from white. It looked as though black will survive, but... Bf5 and Qc3 were amazing.

Beautiful finish. The Indian champ Karthikeyan looks like a worthy future successor to the great Viswanathan "Vishy" Anand. Thanks for the concise analysis.

Black seems to have little prospects in this variation.

Daniel can you recommend a good book for a club player of 1500-1700 too sharpen tactics and calculation skills ?

Personally I noticed I got better at it by doing four things. 1) Stop thinking about previous moves. If two rooks are traded visualise them of the board. This way you can free up mental space. 2) Practice on chesstempo, it's the best puzzle site (and free). Take your time. I sometimes spend 40 min on a puzzle. Getting it correct is the crux to later learning how to solve them faster. 3) Practice playing blind chess. Even if entire games are too much, try reading first 7 moves of a chess game and then put the position on the board. 4) Never forget your own plans, so often we miss a tactical shot because a knight is attacked or something. Personally I have searched for books, but haven't found any. Maybe others do have suggestions.

So the first new move of the game was also the losing move... I don't think I've seen that before.

Daniel, do u know if there's a professional player who uses Alpha Zero as their chess PC hardware?

I don't know, but I doubt that alpha zero is available to anyone. Certainly not the source code.

I would have promoted to a bishop just to confuse him even more probably.

Surely Qh1 was Black's best chance on move 29, right!? Why did he not play that? It seems to me that it would be difficult for White to avoid a perpetual check in that position. I'm looking at (in my mind's eye) for example. 30. Qxh6, Qh2+ 31. Ke3, Rfe8+ 32. dxe8 33. Rxe8+ and now I see White having to block with one of his pieces (bishop or rook) and it's unclear to me from that point forward.

You've managed to cover a tournament without showing a single game by any of the players who shared 2nd and 3rd placed. How did you do that?
