The game that changed it all was the Redskin game who were undefeated. 6-5 and you know you essentially have to win out to gain a wildcard spot. You are up 14-7 and Aikman got hurt. Now having that capable backup in Steve Beuerlein is there to see if it was worth it or not. Turned out it was worth it. Beating the Steelers on Thanksgivng, then beating the playoff Saints, brought us to the Eagles. We hadn't beaten them in 4 years and after 11 sack game earlier that season, we were going to see if the Cowboys were going to step up. They did and then after beating the Falcons, we had our wildcard game. After a big defensive game, we finally won our 1st playoff game since 1982. The Lions were just too good and they had their window that season. The Cowboys would have a great draft class and then in free agency getting safety Thomas Everett. The FINAL PIECE was getting Charles Haley in that trade and the pieces were in place for that 1992 season run.

My favorite seasons that I experienced were 1983 because of all the great come from behind victories they pulled out, as well as 1991 because the excitement that I felt about the team and how they were winning their games, and then the following year 1992 because it was my first time witnessing my favorite team win the Super Bowl. I've been a Dallas Cowboys fan since 1980 when I was 6 years old. During the 16 game season years of the NFL, 78-20, teams that sent a QB, RB, WR, and a TE to the Pro Bowl in the same season, on average, went 12-4. From 91 through 95 Dallas sent a QB (Aikman), RB (Smith), WR (Irvin), and a TE (Novacek) to the Pro Bowl together as a group for 5 straight NFL seasons. This is the 1st and only time in NFL history a team has done that. Dallas's average record during those 5 seasons was 12-4, including going 12-4 or better for 4 straight seasons, which was an NFL record at the time. prior to that the record was 3 straight seasons of at least 12 wins by the Dolphins from 83-85. That helped to explain in part the Dynasty run and the constant 12-4 records. What explains the Super Bowl wins and the 10-1 Post Season record from 92-95 was the fact that the team got better in the Playoffs. Every playoff victory was by at least 10 points with the average score being 32-18. Aikmans playoff passer rating during that 4 year run was 109.6, Smith (NFL record for most rushing yards in the playoffs) and Irvin (3rd most receiving yards in playoff history) continued their Pro Bowl production in the playoffs, Novacek (17 catches in 3 Super Bowls) got slightly better come playoff time, but even guys like Harper got better. He holds the NFL record for yards per catch in the playoffs. Defensive players got better as well, Tony Tolbert was the sack leader in the playoffs for the Cowboys. He's on a very short list of NFL players who have at least 10 sacks in their playoff careers. Jim Jeffcoat had 6 sacks in 8 playoff games with the Cowboys. DBs became football magnents and were collecting INTs like crazy in the playoffs, Eddie Murray went 7-7 on FG attempts in the 93 Playoffs, and let us not forget James Washington Super Bowl 28 performance. This was truly a special team that we will never see again.

Jimmy Johnson was sooo good. They could be taken advantage of good passing attacks in 1991, so he goes out and drafts CB Kevin Smith in the first round, Robert Jones and Darren Woodson in the 2nd, signs Thomas Everett and then Charles Haley falls into his lap, and presto - the pass defense goes from 23rd to 5th in yards allowed and they defeat NFL HOFers Steve Young and Jim Kelly in the playoffs.

The sad part about this is as Cowboys fans we have to keep reliving the same memories in the early '90s as the last time being dominant. I find myself having to go as far back as digging up old Roger staubach games which are still phenomenal to watch to this day on KZbin also as a bygone era where we were once dominant. Since then this organization has done everything possible to make sure they don't get back to a superbowl, whether it's overpaying average quarterbacks, skipping on future Hall of Fame quarterbacks in the draft, Brady, mahomes, etc etc. We can't get new memories because it's organization cannot get to the big game again with the current leadership not to mention current quarterback. I used to love watching these NFL films on the '90s Cowboys but now it's getting tiresome as they just add a new clips and rehashed the same old story. This is the first one I just won't bother watching It's getting old
