It should be a crime that dryers are so poorly engineered that one needs to MacGyver solutions using paint stirrers, microfiber wrapped screwdrivers, and coat hangers to clean the vents. Seriously, wth?!

And why the hell aren’t the narrow hose attachments that come with a vaccuum at least like a foot long? Flexible? I mean come on… what are we doing as a species??? Would’ve made this whole thing so much easier.

they probably do it on purpose so then people will call the maintenance just to clean the vents while the price of just cleaning it will be alot

Great video. How about the dryer vent cleaning kit with the hose that attaches to the vacuum! Also, people need to clean the exit screen - where it leaves the house! This can get packed with lint also and needs to be cleared! (More video ideas for ya!)

Clean your lint traps before half way thru and after using the dryer. Completly clean any and all dryer vent sections spring and fall. Vacumn out the exhaust tube from the back of the dryer. Also at least every other year Remove the front panel and vac out the inside of the dryer. If you have never done this you will be amazed at all the lint in there. Also if your dryer is a few years old you are burning lint. For those people who have long vent runs like mine you will need a powerful shop vac that can blow and suck. Suck first blow next. Rotate this back and forth until you see a pile of lint at your vent exhaust. A leaf blower cant get out all the moldy wet stuff. This is what I suggest for an electric dryer. I have to experience with a gas dryer.

This is great, thanks for the detailed comment. I’m about to go deep into my dryer for the first time, it must be at least 10 years old, and I can tell it’s not heating as much as it used to. thanks again, have a great night

The repair guy pulled the vent loose in the back of the dryer and vacuum it out. Also inside the back hole where it inserts. Also if a wall vent the hole that goes outside the house. Clean the screen vent with warm sudsy water and verify water can run through the holes. Rinse and let dry. Dryer sheets leave a film that stops air flow. I don’t use dryer sheets in the dryer anymore because of that.

Just buy an appliance brush. They work for fridge coils, A/C coils, radiators, lint traps, etc. You can also blow the lint in and open from the back to clean the exhaust fan, coils, etc.

My lint trap started to slightly lift on one side. Clothes started to get stuck on a corner and turned the whole load of clothes into a “clothes tornado” that I had to untwist. I trimmed the now gnarled plastic and even sanded it smooth. Still happened. To my horror there is a huge chunk of lint UNDER the trap! They sure don’t make it easy to reach though! Why!? It was like a damn brick 🧱 lol I came here looking for tips on how to possibly reach the bit I can’t seem to get, thanks a bunch!

Can't believe no one answered you. You've prob moved at this point, but there are hose clamps around the vents, yours have likely slipped off a bit. Get a nut driver or flat head screwdriver, back of the clamp, reseat it, and tighten it again
