Great cleaning motivation! I liked it because it was a true, honest to goodness farm kitchen cleaning. So many cleanings already look amazing and have brand new cabinets, etc. so I think it’s nice to see down to earth and quite common household settings! And by the way- your kitchen is adorable!

What a treasure of honesty you are. Your upbringing from the old ways by your parent/grandparents, is irreplaceable with "modern ways", and 100% PRICELESS. Thank you so much for sharing your deep cleaning video... I just pray that the "modern" liberal ideology that is so rampantly infectious in our public and many subsidized Christian schools today will not stain the minds of your precious children or change the wonderful values you have taught them. NEVER feel like "modern" is better somehow...because there is absolutely no better way than the "natural, attentive and loving way" your mother and grandmother raised you under, which is also evident in the way you are raising your own. And - YES... God IS Good! And, so is your way of life; which pleases Him greatly! Be blessed.

Hello Ruthann! I just found your channel and am really enjoying it! I would like to share a little tip regarding the top of kitchen cabinets… I am quite short and have difficulty reaching up there even when standing on the counter so once a year I climb a ladder and lay wax paper there. It catches all the dust and grease. I just throw away the old paper and since everything underneath is mostly clean, just needs a quick wipe. Hope it helps you and your followers! ❤😊

One way to keep the tops of your cabinets easier to clean is to lay down wax paper, parchment paper, butcher paper or even paper towels. 🥰 You did a phenomenal job deep cleaning that kitchen ❤️ now, if I could just get the motivation to do mine 🤪

Ruthann, you are most definitely not alone!! I actually did a deep clean of my kitchen before Christmas and it was equally as bad (my refrigerator was worse due to a freezing/exploding 1/2 gallon jar of milk 😱). It is actually really nice to see a "normal" working - gets dirty kitchen vs the perfect pristine kitchens/homes on social media. Thank you for this video, even though it is not my favorite job at all, it does feel good when it's all done!

Hi RuthAnn. Here's a tip (for anyone interested) - visit your local carpet store(s) for vinyl scraps. The scraps will come in a variety of patterns but because they're not from the roll, they often give away the scraps OR sell for pennies on the dollar. As they'll be inside kitchen/bathroom cabinets (and under supplies), it won't matter compromise aesthetics. Cut to cabinet-shelf size and set inside. Don't worry about gluing. Pros: 1. Protects wood/cabinet material from water damage 2. Protects wood/cabinet material from gauging 3. Some cushion for china/glass ware 4. EASY CLEAN UP! Cons 1. Finding the scraps 2. Cutting the scraps (I use a razor knife like a box-cutter) to size 3. You will loose ~1/4" of cabinet height on each shelf. Blessings!

Thank you so much for being so transparent. That's what working kitchens look like!! I never learned to clean from my family and my husband has taught me but still the one that knows how to truly get things clean. One suggestion my husband would add is to use a crevice cleaner attachment on a strong vacuum and vacuum the back and lean it back and vacuum the bottom of your refrigerator. As the fans on it work, it draws in dust and dirt that clog the refrigerator so it cannot work as it should. It will shorten the life of your refrigerator. Thanks for such great videos!! You edit perfectly...it shows enough to understand but moves quickly. I LOVE your teaching!!

Im 9 months late to this but thank you for this! I was not taught how to clean and embarrassingly after 13 years of marriage Im still clueless on how to deep clean or even clean well. This was the perfect step by step instruction that I needed! No one else gives this much detail and seem to just assume every one already knows how to do it. I don't, so, thank you! My biggest issue is too much stuff we use very occasionally but have to store in the kitchen because we have no basement, attic, or garage.

First, wonderful inspiring reminder. Thank you. Two tips that work for me; 1. I have two buckets, one filled with the hot, soapy water along with plenty of clean rags. As I clean, I toss the dirty rag in the second bucket and get a clean one from the soapy water bucket. You can go over the surfaces as often as needed, but still have a clean rag. All rags get rinsed out and put in the washer. 2. Tops and inside of cabinets - I line them with the stick-down floor tiles. It's a time consuming job, but it's a one time thing and can be broken into sections. The floor tiles clean up and disinfect much easier than wood and are pretty much a permanent fix to shelf liners. Places to definitely use the tiles is under the sink and on the tops of cabinets that are open to collecting all the grease, even if you don't want to put them in all the cabinets. The tiles are not overly expensive and practicality never have to be replaced. I also use white, or the lightest color tile possible. In my current kitchen I even resorted to painting the inside of the cabinets white. My kichen is dark and this extra effort makes finding things so much easier. This comes from experience of living in a 100+ year old house. Thank you again. I'm glad all those toys got found. Someone was wondering where they were. I hope the M&Ms got eaten. They were still good. Just dust them off. 😊

I have lived in my apartment for 23 years. Last month the refrigerator was replaced for the first time. The floor underneath was black with grime. It was wonderful seeing your kids help you clean. Deep cleaning is definitely not my favorite thing to do, especially the kitchen. After cleaning the top of my fridge and the tops of the cabinets, seeing all the dust, dirt, and grease, I was shocked. I decided to line the tops of the cabinets with newspaper to prevent this from happening again. I folded the paper to fit down on top of the cabinets, and I taped as I went across. As for my fridge, I found on Amazon a cover ment for the tops of the washer and dryer and used it for the top of the refrigerator. When it gets dirty, I just toss it in the wash. The newspaper worked, and after almost a year, I checked the tops of my cabinets and found the newspaper was dirty and greasy. I was pleased it did the job. I live in Arizona, so dust, unfortunately, is something you have to live with.

I put clear appropriately sized totes in the bottom cabinets to store pans etc. I have a 1901 Victorian style farm home. I painted the inside of the wood cabinet shelves with white kitchen paint (easy to clean) then put some clear sticky bottomed shelf liner down on the shelf. The totes slide in and out easily. I can see what is in the cabinet without climbing in it. And it’s easy to clean. I’ve had this system for five years and it’s still working well.

New subscriber, watching older videos… Great inspiration for deep cleaning. I try to do rooms throughout the year to spread it out, but I don’t get it done as often as I would like. I work full time from home, so I use my lunch time to clean most days. I do it very much the same as you. I don’t buy many commercial cleaners or devices, but I did purchase an inexpensive steamer to clean my floors. I really like it and feel it does a good job. The one difference for me is that I always wear gloves. My hands get so dry from the water that it can takes a week to get them back to normal if I do any amount of cleaning without gloves. 😊

Don't be embarrassed by the dirt. LOL. I too have a farm kitchen and I have all that dirt too. I too had a Mom and Grandma that deep cleaned twice a year. I do it once a year and have to start with the kitchen b/c it is always the worst. My pantry gets to be a mess because of all the bulk spices and baking ingredients that I use on a daily/weekly basis. I dread that part of my kitchen every year. I don't know if there is any other or better way of cleaning a kitchen except good old soap and water and elbow grease. That works for me and that is what I use. Really greasy spots on my cabinets, I use a little rubbing alcohol and a soft rag. Then rinse with warm water. Makes them shine and takes the grease right off without the lingering smell of harsh cleaners. Your kitchen looks great! Wonderful job!

I don't know if anyone else has mentioned it, but I recommend putting sheets of any kind of paper (brown/white/news) or clingfilm or kitchen foil down on top of your wall cabinets. When it comes time to clean, just carefully lift them off and into a bin bag, leaving only the trim to properly clean and the rest to wipe with a damp cloth. It cuts down cleaning up there to almost no time at all and it's much less daunting. xx

Your kitchen isn't bad at all. You keep a tidy home. That's takes a lot of energy. I do like the magic eraser for a lot of my cleaning. One thing I learned while I had my cleaning business was a little furniture polish or very lite coat of oil on the glass shower doors helps the soap build up from sticking I always hang a shower curtain in the shower and that keep the build up on the glass. You're a wonderful mother by the way! Thanks for the video.

Oh you are so fun! Just so you know my house is way dirtier, I don’t deep clean very often but I watch a cleaner who does hoarding houses for free on Sat. I really liked the sped up declutter and before and after pics. And I learned he uses Mr Clean clean freak-spray on for grease and wait and wipe of, and he makes his own all purpose spray with 70% rubbing alcohol and 6 drops of dawn which is my fav now for shining windows and mirrors. He also uses ultra fine microfiber cloths for windows and mirrors leaves no streaks. ( or 91% rubbing alcohol diluted with water to 70%) it sanitizes also. It’s also good on stone countertops. MMC Midwest magic cleaners is the KZbin channel..

Looks great! Your videos are real. Don’t need filters. We like you because of your realness. Many of us with kids and even grandkids can relate to you. Real life gets messy and that is okay. Thank you.

You bring me back to a life a once knew. Cold winters with a coal and wood stove. Soot on every surface. The heat from that stove brought so much warmth and cooking meals as well. I clean the way that you do. With a knife and rag to get in between the cracks and crevices. My father raised hogs until he just couldn’t do it. I have my mother’s kerosene lamp I use it if there is a power outage. Thank you for the memories.

Good job! Love seeing the whole family pitch in to help, these are valuable lessons for them. You can get rollers that go under the fridge to make it easier to slide out for cleaning. You can also buy special wands to go on your vacuum (they aren’t expensive) to get the coils of the refrigerator clean which will extend the life of the compressor and save energy.

Ruth Anne, you are real! You don't try to hide, what ALL OF US HAVE in our own homes!

16:33 the dirt in the crack is much easier to clean by lifting the stove top from 'belly height' and you should find a support there so you don't have to hold it up yourself. You'll also be able to clean a part of your stove you didn't know you had access to.

I have the same issues in my kitchen. Your kitchen looked pretty normal. You & the children did a great job. I'm inspired to do some of the same.

I thought I was the only one who "vacuums" before I mop or wash down surfaces! Its enlightening to know that I share that train of thought will another person! Believe me when I say cleaning is NOT something I ever plan to do......thanks for sharing!

Precious to share your truth! We all have dirty houses but how many of us share the truth. Reminds me of scriptures. We cannot get cleaned up spiritually until we expose are dirt or sins. Amen!

It’s hilarious. I just started doing this to my kitchen last week. Now I’m trying to get past my 2nd bout of the flu so I can finish the other wall of shelves in my kitchen. I need to clean my stove inside and out to which I am not looking forward to. It is harder to do at 68 than it was when I was younger. Keep the videos coming. I love that you have a regular people home that is lived in like mine not something out of a movie set!!!

I love watching your videos . Have tried quite a number of your ideas and recipes. Love your Christian values. May god richly bless you and your family. One thing I do when "deep cleaning" in the kitchen after washing cupboard tops is, I spread paper towel over the surface of the top. It catches all the dust and greasy film . Then discard the paper towel and replace it after the next deep cleaning.

Thank you so much for putting this video up. Your kitchen was not that dirty, so don't feel bad. EVERYONE has dirty space around the refrigerator and stove!!! You did a wonderful job. You might find that using magic clean erasers when you clean the baseboards under you cabinets, make it alot easier. They don't have any chemicals in them, and I don't know why they work so well, but they make tough spaces a little easier to clean. They do wonders for scuff makes and that kind of thing. Thanks again for your great videos. I love them!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰

Ohhhhh, this is NORMAL!! I thought I was just lazy and gross for having dirt like that under my big appliances! Have you seen Sophia at My Great Challenge? She's another KZbinr I love because of how she keeps it real! I loooooove your kitchen, it's beautiful, and you can see how well used it is and how hardworking you are from the worn paint, you can't fake that kind of love, you know? I know, my kitchen is the same, well used, and scrubbed often 😂 at least on the outside. I love that your kids help, mine do too, it's how they learn to keep their own houses clean when they move out, and they will appreciate you for it like mine do ❤

Loving this video, because you would be amazed at how many people have never actually been taught how to truly clean their kitchen and that you have to move things like the refrigerator and the stove
