I learned to make this by seasoning some flour, whipping up an egg or two and pouring some breadcrumbs in a bowl. Dip on the flour, egg and crumps then fry. The closest description of the taste would be tiny crispy artichokes. I must have been about twelve and I've bade it ever since.

My parents used to make big squash flowers deep fried in a batter and then put powdered sugar on them. Out of this world taste. I will have to try this fried dandelion. Thank you, Leo.

I make dandelion wine, flowers in tea blends, the roots roasted for dandelion coffee and the leaves in salads, but I have never seen it this way. I'll have to try it.

When I lived in Alberta, Canada, my Swiss mother-in-law would fix dandelion greens. It was delicious.

I like dandelion Jelly it is really good It tastes a whole like Honey . and looks a lot like honey also.

I refuse to spray my dandelions in my yard, because I know that they are edible. The cost of things today is a motivator to do this. Thanks for the recipe!

My father-in-law loved him some dandelion deep fried. He also made some awesome dandelion wine.

My mom grew dandelions in our garden on purpose. We ate them on a regular basis, at least 3 or 4 times a month... I still make these today. What I tell people who want to know more about it is, if you would try it you are sure to love it. I have it even used it to replace the lettuce on my sandwiches...

Where was home? I grew up in central MO, we ate spring poke but never dandelions.

WOW! I have heard of dandelion line and dandelion greens, but not fried dandelion flowers. Interesting! I have got to try this. Thank you.

Oh my goodness my mother used to fix dandelion greens. I would never eat it because dog peeing on it. Lol I know I know you wash the stuff off before you cook it. I sure do miss my mom and her hillbilly ways. Thanks Leo for bringing up some good memories, you go ahead and eat your fixings I believe you and mother with got along. But some of your guys is fixings will be okay to eat but I'm not eating dandelion greens. Lol

That would be something I would love to try. I have put them in salads for myself and others think I’m on the crazy side but that don’t matter to me I enjoyed it.

Oh wow! Does anyone remember sour grass as well? 😂 I’d sit under our mailbox and eat it plus those little green crab apples. I’ve never tried these. I’m going to tho. ♥️ ;)

Thanks for sharing. I just tried it with tempura mix, black pepper, paprika, chilli, garlic and onion powder. It was AWESOME! Much luv 🤙

Love it, my grandma would just pick the young leaves on the dandelion, and made dandelion dressing..so delicious, I'm gonna try that fried dandelion for sure

Hi Leo, I'm from Massachusetts and I know alot of people up here that cook dandelions. I have cooked the flowers in pancake batter, had them in salads. I love dandelions. The ants add flavor Leo didn't you know that LOL. They have more iron and other nutrients than spinach better than over the counter. The medical field don't want you do know this.😘🥗

I’ve made these coated in dry cornmeal and fried ….it’s kind of a substitute for fried mushrooms …. Which I can never find

I don't mess with wild mushrooms at all. Mom used to tell us a story about the family all getting poisoned on mushrooms that they were 100% sure about when she was little. She was in a coma for a while and nearly died. They're all off my menu... lol

@@thehillbillyfiles A friend made them once for me. She picked the blooms, washed them delicately, let them dry & then stuffed them with a cream cheese mixture. She dipped them in a light batter & fried them. They were great.

@@thehillbillyfiles Hey Leo...THANKS for bringn' back some happy memories. I used to make these using a simple beer batter...same as I made for my fish fry-ups. But I'd add a few shakes of Paprika or Cayenne Pepper. A bowl of my special "Dandelion Poppers" & a couple cold bottles of beer...OMG!!!! 🙂 Kentucky Hillbilly in Yucatan Mexico, Ben

Rinse well, 50/50 shake and bake coating mix with flour, then deep fry in real bacon grease... :-) Mind blowingly delicious!!! lol
