This is very reminiscent of the underground effort Israel conducted against PLO and other targets across Europe in the 1970s, following the killing of Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympics in 1972. Including at least one instance of a PLO target being taken out by an explosive device in the handset of his telephone. Israel also used front companies in Turkey a few years ago to target Hamas personnel based there, but that operation was penetrated and dismantled by Turkish counter-intelligence. Just two examples of how the unconventional aspects of the war between Israel and its enemies is conducted outside of the obvious "area of operations".

Interestingly, the Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon also was injured by one of those exploding pagers (confirmed by multiple sources). Hezbollah is supported financially by Iran. Which would have caused an immediate international incident as far as airline travel and other public transport presenting an immediate threat to public safety. Updated news from the region: A second set of explosions just happened (few minutes ago). "Radio communications and cell phones" targeted is the preliminary report from 'boots on the ground'. Over 500 Hezbollah operatives were blinded yesterday, when operatives looked at their devices. Others lost fingers, many lost 'manhood' when the devices exploded on their waist. Many of those killed were devices that hit major arteries in the leg.
