The problem here is that all naysayers and skeptics, who assume by their aviation training must know more than anyone else currently living, haven't had their own experiences. If they had they wouldn't be saying this is all just black tech and prosaic secrets held by the Pentagon. You should listen to your fellow and highly credible pilots both civilian and military who have had these encounters. They aren't all human technology and they aren't all balloons floating in the sky.

Loved his character and performance. TGM is a movie to be treasured forever. It's even better in some ways than TG.

I remember reading Flight of the Intruder shortly after it was released when i was in middle school. It and Mr Coonts' other books like Cannibal Queen helped feed a lifelong love for aviation. Hard to believe that was almost 40 years ago!

I’m a believer that there is in fact UFO’s ,Aliens and The Government has had evidence of them. There’s nothing to gain for the release of this information other than transparency and the back fire that would happen if they released would have negative impacts on the Government. My opinion only!!

Asked a retired AWACS operator about his thoughts on ufos several years back. His response was as follows: "You go up there in the aircraft, and... sometimes... you see things" That's all he said, and imo, that's all he needed to say

His helmet was off when the hatch blew. The compartment was cramped. The Right Stuff didn't depict him as panicked. He had just taken a very stressful ride on a rocket for the first time. It depicted him in an emotional state. Despite all his training he forgot to close the suit valve. He couldn't close it when his suit was flooding? He could have hit the button with the helmet. The capsule was rocking around, he was laying at an angle because the capsule was floating at an angle. He was not just laying flat on his back. If the hatch blew when the cutter contacted the antenna he would have been preparing to blow the hatch within moments. He would have unstrapped his seat harness at some point. The argument that a static arc triggered it is not supported because previous pilot's training to pick up the capsule didn't trigger it by static arc. That Gus accidentally hit the button is at least as well supported as the theory that an arc triggered it.

He's a experienced pilot that thought he should eject. No one wants to eject. He could have died in that plane. Sure expensive plane, but he was there and the decision makers weren't. Glad he lived and we can always build another plane. That's what we do.

I find the idea of an object detectable by sonar out-pacing a submarine "by orders of magnitude" evasive. There are obvious factors like what form of sonar was it detected on, active, or passive. There is the question of how fast the submarine was moving. Then there is the issue of how an object detectable on sonar could seriously move "orders of magnitude" faster than a submarine. Even if the sub were moving slowly, in the one to nine knot range, "orders of magnitude" suggests a velocity in excess of 100 knots.

My take on it can be summed up by a line I heard in some Tom Clancy movie a long time ago: "Better to appear guilty than incompetent." It's obvious the government (or components of the government) know more about the issue of UFOs/UAPs than they are willing to disclose. However, I don't believe they are hiding crashed UFOs or aliens or reverse engineered technology, I think they have no idea what these things are. I do not believe the government is competent enough to keep secrets that big from unauthorized disclosures. If the US government admitted the evidence supports there are non-natural objects flying through our airspace that we have no means of identifying or challenging, then they have to tacitly admit they are unable to fulfill one of the basic functions of any government, enforcing the country's sovereignty.

I work in television and video production, and have a good eye and a bad habit of noticing things that obviously not right which I call the how in the Hell moments, and this moment is that the Japanese pilot that got down was in the water until rescued and I repeat WATER, but when gets off the Helio his uniform is dry as a bone and again I repeat DRY.
