Thanks for the review, guys! One thing you missed, though, that is basically a required mechanic, is that you can reroll any die with a sanity token. This means that, rather than only having three actions to roll that success, you could actually (say with Randi) have one roll with 6 chances, rest, then have another roll with 6 chances. This helps a lot, and I get the feeling you guys may not have picked up on that. Hope that helps!

I've learned that "too easy" is usually a euphemism for "playing wrong". I'm a little surprised that "Too much luck" wasn't also on your Misses list. That's always a killer for me. I finally had to get Rescue Polar Bears out of my sight after my excellent play was once again thwarted by the many luck-based features of that otherwise clever co-op.

Game was re-released, did they address your concerns? It may be cool to revist this review. Siskel and Ebert used to do that. They'd revisit older reviews and tell their audience their thoughts on older reviews.

Nice review. I have enjoyed the game and I like a challenge, but this was punishing. I don't find much fun in playing a mission over and over when set up is so long and it's clear that a dice roll can just throw the game. Until we house ruled it with some suggestions from BGG it honestly felt like a broken game that wasn't play tested enough to balance it. I hope if they do a third print they'll rethink the missions and add some extra dice mitigation.

The 1st scenario got official difficulty buff. And the game in general got 2 optionnal rule to ajdust difficulty.

Good review that reflect opinion of my group. Game is cool but difficulty level is so high that my friends don't want to play it anymore.. I'll probably play it still solo though as I like hard games 😉

Come on...this game let's player have a huge amount of rerolls just spending sanity token. There's a ton of game more difficult with unstoppable bad luck.

@@ariodb usually rerollls are not enough to win scenario. Even on FB group most scenarios are not beaten by 85% of members which clearly shows that it's something not right. Check comments below - many times combination of draw cards and/or just few mistakes can lead to loss. I like it still though but I admit it's not perfect.

After my first few plays I can say this is a really difficult game and it has a lot of luck in it. A few bad die rolls or card draws can make a scenario impossible to win. I am still making up my mind if its a game for me I would rather there were fewer monsters which were harder to deal with, its easy to get dog piled by multiple monsters.
