This band was a phaenomenon live. Even if they could not stand each other (Ian - Richie) when they played they were fantastic, true masters of music.

So sick of people slamming Ian's voice. Christ he blew it out singing in octaves most can't touch. He still is better than 99.9% of the clowns out there. And as far as this album I think it was horribly underrated. Jon was epic on it.

I just saw them for the first time last week with Yes. I will always regret not seeing them in their prime, of course. Anya is part of this tour’s setlist and I haven’t heard it in years. What an incredible song that radio and the charts completely missed…sure, now Ian’s voice is shot. Nobody’s voice can handle this music on and off for 50 years as Ian has given the world. He might be too old to cut the mustard but, he can still lick the jar. Do we think anyone is going to be listening to Justin Bieber or whatever passes for music today in 2074?

I see the director continued the tradition that started in 1972. Blackmore starts a solo, and the director goes "Oh, I know what I will do, I will switch to the camera that shows Glover or Gillan. That makes sense."

RIP Jon Lord!!!

I disagree. If you never have, I urge you to listen to Purpendicular and Abandon with Morse on guitar. Great albums. Lord left after that, and it wasn't quite same with Airey on keys. Lord was DP more than anyone. He and Paice played on every album 67-98. No other member can claim that.

It's a nice clip hampered by Ians failing voice. Ian's unreliable voice is what Ritchie was so mad at in several interviews where he slammed the singer for not taking care of his instrument. Ian, since the reunions, has always been the weakest link when it comes to live performing.
@ronan822 жыл бұрын
Pardon me, replying to a 2 year old comment. It's only natural that the singer's ability would age the worst, Gillan certainly didn't do himself any favours though.

Yeah but I Ritchie Blackmore and Jon lord it's not deep purple about them to I know Jon Lord is no longer with us Ritchie Blackmore and they won't let him play come on this feud between Blackmore and Gillian I just need to bury the hatchet and let him play that's all they need to do and everything will be fine in my opinion they should go in the blank mower bright light child being childish I just needed to get over their childish ways the way there and just let him play with it that's what they should do

@jaspergillgannon49914 жыл бұрын
You have to remember, all the vocals from the Battle Rages On album were originally written to be sung by Joe Lynn Turner, not Gillan. That's why Gillan's voice is better suited for the more funky-ish bluesy albums that would come later, not the more symphonic style of songs like Anya
@PatrickCervantez3 жыл бұрын
He sounds better on The Battle Rages On tour than The House of Blue Light tour. Besides... Ian and Ritchie really brought the best _and_ worst out of one another. Ian constantly antagonized Ritchie to the point where he'd sabotage the shows in retaliation. The fact they got Ritchie to even do the European leg of this tour is a miracle in and of itself.

C´mon, RB was a beast in the 70´s but this here is disaster... You can clearly see what the chemistry in the band is... After Steve Morse joined in 1994, it was a breath of fresh air, Everyone started to smile, 2 Brillant albums Purpendicular and Abandon, Hard working from everyone in the band (Steve Morse was always with high work rate in every band he was + the unique talent he has, (Dixie dregs, his own, Kansas + Steve became the reason, why John Lord stayed in the band a few more years...
